President Obama signed an executive order today extending eligibility for the third-highest Defense Department recognition to foreign armies.
“Executive Order 12019 of November 3, 1977 (Establishing the Defense Meritorious Service Medal), is amended by inserting, ‘or to any member of the armed forces of a friendly foreign nation,’ after ‘any member of the Armed Forces of the United States,’” said the short order. …

Just an Officers medal anyway. They even admit that an enlisted man is not eligible as a practical matter.

Maybe the red green skit of him listening to Hap Shaunessy getting the medal of honor from Bernie Montgomery while in the Canadian army during WWII might have been kind of prophetic.
Everything Obama does makes sense if you think of his administration as a department of the United Nations. I truly believe Obama considers himself to already be part of a global government. This is why he willingly throws his fellow Democrats under the bus with issues such as the Keystone Pipeline.
Our Dear Leader is more concerned with preparing for his ultimate role as Secretary General of the UN and Campaigner-In-Chief for the United World Government. Think of all the nice golf-courses there are throughout the world.
From the description in the article it doesn’t sound like much of a medal. American servicemen received the Legion of Honor etc. from the frogs. Seems like a much higher honor than this medal. I will admit not much knowledge on these matters. It certainly does not rank with a Bronze or Silver Star.
