Should Spanish be banned from all Public Schools in the USA?
Graewoulf | July 9, 2014 | Graewoulf

Banning the teaching and speaking of Spanish in Public Schools would expel many Illegal Alien Invaders from US Public Schools, and thus reduce the financial impact to US Taxpayers whose taxes pay for Public Schools.

The failure of the Obama Administration to protect the Citizens of the US from the expenses and job losses caused by the Invasion of Illegal Alien Invaders from Spanish-speaking countries proves that this Obama-caused "Dreamer" Invasion was implemented by Obama to "Fundamentally transform the United States of America."

Let’s go all the way and make English the official language of the United States of America.

It will be used for all purposes of government: the military, the judiciary, and the civil bureaucracy including government publication. It will also be used for civil and commercial aeronautics and space, and for scientific purposes such as nuclear.

It will NOT affect media productions such as television/radio broadcasting and private publishing - books, magazines and newspapers.

For those who do not know, there are already newspapers printed here in Yiddish, Chinese Mandarin, and Arabic. So what if more media is developed in Spanish.

“The Spanish taught in schools is no the same Spanish the illegals speak. It is Castillian, the Spanish of Spain, not of Latin America.

Please note, this was my comment, not Roman_War_Criminal's comment -he was quoting me.

The Spanish taught in American Schools is usually (A) Total Nonsense ... assuring that no American will ever be able to find a bathroom or a glass of water in ANY Spanish-speaking country

To quote you - O rubbish! It never caused me any problem.

In ye hoary olden days, Spanish Class was where one found the students thought to be moderately endowed ... but not dumb. The sharper chisels in the school toolbox were directed to French and German. Of course, in those days, Latin was also taught ... even mandatory in the better outfits.

When I was in high school 5 years of foreign language were mandatory, 3 years of French and 2 years of either Spanish or Latin, no ifs and or buts about it, even for the Haitian and Cuban girls.

Also note that even the most uneducated Spanish speakers are apt to use very sophisticated and quite correct grammar.

Maybe where you live, but not where I live. I used to so enjoy jerking the chains of the Mexican thugs that would show up at some of the "dances" the hall at our Moose lodge was rented out for. When they would come to the bar they would refuse to speak English, especially when asked for proof of age - until I informed them in French no ID no drink - all of a sudden they spoke (horrendous) English.

I know, I know....
I call our local mom & pop Mexican restaurant to place a take out order and try out my minuscule Spanish...they shut me down after “Olla!”.
Hurts my feelings....

When I was in high school, it was so long ago that America was a wealthy and powerful country full of bright, well-spoken people who wore clean clothes! Then, Coolidge left office.

Let’s go back to Old English, before it was corrupted by those illegal Norman invaders.

Spanish will be spoken in the homes all over the US for years to come. As it has for the past 200+ years already. If you operate a business that wants a piece of this legal market you had better speak Spanish.

Not everyone that speaks a foreign language is an illegal. Of my children’s eight great grandparents they spoke English, Polish, Italian, French, and German. Should we stop teaching those languages?

I appreciate your point. But you are angry at the wrong thing.

Here in GA (where my sister teaches and she has a gringo accent from hell with all sorts of errors in her speech), it’s awful! They hire Mexicans who weren’t born here but have all of the bad habits of slang and improper usage of articles and even tenses. Spanish “text talk” is actually being used in publik skools.

Latin should be mandatory for anybody wishing to learn a a Romance Language.

Not at all.

The purpose of a Border is to keep Illegal Aliens out.

Start with isolating the Illegal Aliens by language barriers, as suggested in this thread, then stop all Government Welfare Payments, then fine employers $1,000 per day per Illegal Alien.

The ultimate goal is to treat Illegal Alien Invaders who cross from Mexico into the USA, the same way that USA Citizens who invade Mexico are treated today.

Obama started this Border WAR, and We, The People will finish it so that this Illegal Alien Invasion from Mexico into the USA NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!

It is time, - - - - time for a change.

There was reason, and one reason only that I chose Spanish instead of Latin as my 2nd foreign language in HS was because of the nun that taught it - she and I didn’t get along in the least. I had no choice with her for music and religion, I sure as heck wasn’t going to willingly choose to take one of her classes

In H my Spanish teacher was from Ecuador, but had been educated in Spain, she was a lot of fun and did teach us a bit of slang for fun. She also understood it was difficult for many of us taking French 3 and Spanish 1 at the same time and was pretty lenient on us when we used a French word instead of the Spanish word, as long as it was the proper word and in the correct usage.

Hats of to you! Learning two languages at the same time is very difficult. I was attempting Romanian and German at the same time in college. Romanian is very similar to Spanish in many respects, and I was surprised at how “Latinized” German was.

I remember answering questions in Romanian to the German professor as you noted happened to you with French/Spanish.
