He could not be further from the truth.
Van Jones and Obama were youngsters in the 60’s. By the time they were in college in the late 70’s and early 80’s there was not much stomach for protesting on college campuses across the country.
In my personal experience I can remember cases on campuses where the “hippie” kids got all worked up about one issue or another. And they could not get a decent softball team sized group to protest. No one cared. The whole “protest” thing is something their older siblings did—and it was passe by then.
And the key factor for a lot of protests in the 60s was not civil rights—it was the draft.
Even the black kids know that racism in the 2010’s is tame compared to the mid-twentieth century.
All of these civil rights leader wannabees want to be the next MLK. And aside from Obama, no black man has come close to being the next “one.”

Why not try transforming some of these guys into store owners?
Young American citizens who stay married and pay taxes.
I believe it could be done, but you have to work at it.
