Sorry Cardinal Dolan, but your explanation doesn’t make sense

A few weeks ago New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee (SPDC) made a cynical and politically correct decision to allow Gays to march in the parade under a banner proclaiming they are proud sodomites. No one else in the parade is allow to advertise their particular sin; there have been no demands from groups to march under a banner saying “Proud Irish burglars.” But none of this means much to the SPDC.

Those of us who have loved this parade and have fond memories of watching it and marching in it held our collective breath and waited for Cardinal Timothy Dolan the bishop of New York City’s Roman Catholic diocese to respond. Now his response is here and it is very unsatisfactory.

The Cardinal acknowledged that many of us had contacted him with our concerns. That was the last sensible thing he said. From there he takes out his hand washing bowl and absolves himself of any connection to, or responsibility for, what the SPDC does.

The Cardinal weakly argues that in spite of the Committee’s decision to allow the 253 year old parade to slip from being a Catholic Church celebration to being a secular excuse to drink green beer he sees no problem with what has happened.

He assures us that he supported the old policy of saying no to Gays wanting to march as “Gays.” Which begs the question: “So what, and?”

He talks about the Church teaching to “love the sinner and hate the sin” still being in effect. He says God loves all of us. Both of these statements are true but miss the point. In fact the Cardinal misses several points.

1) Cardinal Dolan is either sinister or naïve. Either way this is a bad thing...

Within Orthodox Judaism

Why should the Catholics care what various false religions do or don't do?

When did God say for a man NOT to marry a woman?

Two times He specifically says to go and procreate. For human beings this implies marriage since God did create that institution.

If we use that as a limitus test for determining how false a religion is where would Catholicism stack up?

Are you telling the Church what priests to have? I ask again, why should I care?

I would that all men were even as myself: but every one hath his proper gift from God; one after this manner, and another after that. But I say to the unmarried, and to the widows: It is good for them if they so continue, even as I. But if they do not contain themselves, let them marry. (1 Corinthians 7:7-9)

Read the Holy Scripture every once in a while before posting your inanities.

What was the question that elicited that answer? Who gave that answer?

I showed you that the Holy Scripture speaks approvingly of celibacy and as politely as I could reminded you that the Jews or other people outside of the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church have no authority to give us advice. That was in response to your ## 8 and 23. Thank you for paying attention.

With so many homosexuals as priests in the Catholic Church who have been molesting young men it shouldn’t surprise me to see this.

You mean that roughly 2% of priests over the past 50 years, who have been accused of molestation? Isn't that about the same proportion of homosexuals in the general population?

If he was a Torah-observant rabbi he would have been married.

Where do you see that the population of priests is in the two percent range?
