I think she is up for re-election. It is hard to ask the voters to come out for you if they know you are going to ditch the job two days after the election. So she makes a lot of statements about how she has not intention of leaving her post at this time, etc.
If the spot is offered to her, she will be in DC on the next available (First Class) flight.
