Days after a person was diagnosed with Ebola on U.S. soil for the first time, officials are reportedly investigating a possible Ebola infection in Washington, D.C.

At Howard University Hospital, a patient is in stable condition after presenting with symptoms that could be associated with Ebola, according to a statement today from the hospital. The patient had recently traveled to Nigeria, where the Ebola outbreak has killed eight people.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with medical providers to monitor the patient's progress, officials said.

Officials are also monitoring an inmate at Cobb County Jail in Georgia. However, the initial blood test was negative for Ebola, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.

Though the scares have put some on edge, the cases are not unique. After issuing an alert to hospitals and medical providers in July, the CDC has looked into approximately 100 Ebola scares in 33 states, as of Oct. 1, the agency said....

Custom will eventually have to fly out the window, if that’s why they’re burying infectious corpses in shallow enough graves that animals are dragging the bodies around. If that’s the case then bodies were being dragged around by animals before this outbreak of ebola. Bury them deeper, put rocks or concrete over the grave or burn them. It’s not as if they’re helplessly subject to these conditions.

All this will only become important if they close the golf courses.

All the abuse previous Presidents have endured for playing golf during the most minor of events, and this guy skates when he’s absent from practically everything but golf in crisis after crisis after crisis. It’s the soft racism of low expectations. They really don’t think he can do any, better bless his heart. That, or they’re afraid of what might happen if he actually stuck his nose into any of these crises, so please keep him out on the links and out of the way.

A cocktail of medical marijuana and gay marriage will, like, cure this, and stuff...?

Or something.

And solar power.

THE REAL ENEMY IS FEAR

Oh! And intolerance.

Now, the crazies are coming out. That will keep the CDC busy for awhile.

That’s one of my fears with this ebola disease, also. The health industry is already claiming nurses are not prepared for this.

Visited a friend yesterday at a BIG hospital. Masks were provided to be used to protect the patient. 4 hospital employees, including 2 Doctors came into the room without masks during our 45 minute visit.
BASIC isolation technique in our hospitals is almost an unknown. I am an “Old School” RN and I see so many infractions of technique that put patients, their visitors and caregivers at risk.

Frightening. Just keeping my fingers crossed that this ebola thing fizzles out.

You know, when someone comes into the ER and they order a test for EBOLA

It doesn't happen like that.

There is a single source for testing - the CDC. And their capacity is very small. They only accept submissions from State Health Departments, and they can refuse - and often do.

Most of these "suspected Ebola cases" are Africans with malaria. If they're not from the Hot Zone and they don't have a contact or exposure history, CDC will not OK the testing.

At one point earlier in September, they had 600 requests for testing and had approved 4.

The degree to which this is being mismanaged is astonishing.

Allowing this one crummy Liberian to get to Texas, and publicizing it, GUARANTEES hundreds or even thousands of copycats. And screening at departure, even if it is not corrupt (TIA, bru) will not catch the ones who are incubating the disease, who are the ones who will be rushing for the exits.

I accept that ONE hospital can, with perfect execution, handle ONE patient safely. It is a certainty that, with what is about to happen, safety will break down.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

Personally I will not have flu shot again this year in order to keep my immune system ready for action if needed to defend against Eboli.

Just a coincidence that Alzheimer's escalated over the years since "flu" scare and shots started years ago???

In that same vein..AUTISM increased greatly as # of innoculations scaled up for children. Nothing to see here...Move along God bless us.

I’ve never had a flu shot. Your comment about keeping your immune system ready - how does a flu shot compromise that?
