WHAT MAKES JON STEWART MORE INSUFFERABLE THAN BILL MAHER

WHAT MAKES JON STEWART MORE INSUFFERABLE THAN BILL MAHER Aside from his being not funny enough.

By Matt Purple

Recently four members of that least-recognized Indian tribe “Redskins Nation” agreed to participate in a Daily Show segment discussing the controversy surrounding their team name. Their conversation with comedian Jason Jones was stretching into its third hour when eight Native American activists were suddenly brought out. The newcomers became vitriolic and one fan left the set crying, saying later that she’d felt threatened.

The Washingtonians told the Washington Post that they would have gladly agreed to debate a group of the Indians, but the show had said no such confrontation would occur. The producers lied, sprang an ambush, and laughed at the acrimony that followed.

If this doesn’t feel like déjà vu, then it should. The Daily Show lies all the time. Once a clever romp through the evening news, the show has become a tedious exercise in ideological anthem playing. Its purpose is the same as that of Neil deGrasse Tyson: to present neatly edited vignettes that assure elites of their mammoth intellectual superiority over the Fox News crowd.

Satirists are supposed to poke fun at the cultural consensus; the Daily Show ruthlessly enforces it, seeking out and destroying anyone who ventures outside its bounds. Its host Jon Stewart is a pathetic devotee of hegemonic center-left opinion who uses dishonest techniques to portray himself as the last honest man. Its in-studio audience is the world’s most annoying echo chamber.

Stuart was actually entertaining when he first started out, but as time went on, he just turned into a left wing propagandist, using “humor” as his vehicle.

During Colonial times, he would have been one of the people making pamphlets or partisan newspapers. Then again, I wonder how much WRITING he actually does. Anymore, he’s probably more of a ‘presenter’ as is the case with the late night “comedians”. If Stuart were left to do his own material, he’d probably wouldn’t last another season.

Satire creeps up and catches you unexpectedly. Jon Stewart’s humor is 3 stooges pie in the face humor. Before I get flamed, I love the stooges. They were the originals and copycats cannot live up to them.

I hear ya, if it weren’t for short video’s (posted on FR) of how ridiculous they are, I would not know who they are, and have yet to figure “why” they are.

How can anyone consider a person, this Leibowitz, that does not use his real name, to be honest about anything?

He tries to hide who he is. Why?

Colbert is his real name, and Stewart is hardly the only Jewish entertainer to change his name. Just ask Mel Brooks.

Yet there are too many Americans who watch this show and take it for being real news. I am not joking.

Everyone else in his family pronounces it col-bert. He changed the pronunciation to col-bayer.

At least that’s what I read somewhere.

The story goes that his father always wanted to pronounce it with the silent "T," but that he refrained from doing so out of respect for his own father. He encouraged his kids to pronouce it either way they wanted until his death in an airline crash. Colbert started pronouncing it with the silent "T" when he went to college.

Either way, it can hardly be said that he's "hiding something."

A lot of immigrants changed names to become more “American.” I’m from two; both families changed spellings and pronouncement of names. It was for protection, not show-biz.

Leibowitz is a left-wing political hack masquerading as a comedienne.
