...The Seattle Socialist Party is offering Web Developers employment at $13 an hour, despite pushing for a $20 minimum wage.

Now, in a follow up interview, the party insists that it should not be held to its own standards.

“We’re practicing what we’re preaching in terms of continuing to fight for the minimum wage,” Doug Barnes, the Freedom Socialist Party’s national secretary, told the Huffington Post. “But we can’t pay a lot more than $13."

Apparently completely unaware of his own hypocrisy, Barnes added that he personally supports a $22 an hour minimum wage.

“But we can’t pay a lot more than $13."

Its amazing to me -- although it shouldn't be -- that the same concept of "can't afford to pay more" applies to private businesses as well as the Socialist Party and other Leftie organizations.

They really do think that every business -- from Exxon down to the local hardware store -- is pulling in profits hand over fist and that they aren't paying $22 per hour out of pure greed. They don't understand that if a business paid less than the market wage that no one would work for them.

The employees of this activist group should get $25/hr. That would mean instant relief for the oppressed workers at the Seattle Socialist Party....or instant unemployment.

The minimum wage should be paid in gold.

My son is a software developer getting $20/hr. I guess, it would be OK to pay fast food people $20/hr. A recipe for disaster. I remember in the good old USSR doctors and engineers were paid less than factory and construction workers. This is partially what sank the Red October.

Their employees should get $250/hr and then the Prty could just raise it's dues 20x.

Problems solved.

No, no, you don’t understand. We’re not really communists, we’re liberals. Therefore we subscribe to the belief of telling others what to do with their money. These rules do not apply to us. Once others do it, we’ll still find ways to not comply with these rules.

“But we can’t pay a lot more than $13."

But they believe that they magically would be able to if the Government would only mandate it...

The Marquis de Sade didn’t torture his victims any more than liberals torture logic.

...nobody wants to point out that in a GROWING jobs market having any minimum wage isn’t even necessary. Of course it’s liberal policies that hurt the economy making it an issue.

Equality of misery...can I have some more please?

What do they think of people that have worked their way up to get $20/hr now? Surely they’ll need to get a raise otherwise they’ll probably quit for a less stressful and less demanding job. So *everyone* will need a raise and guess what - $20/hr is the new $10/hr once prices on everything goes up.

I have young people that work for me for $10 an hour that are hardly worth THAT as it is.

Raise the minimum wage? Pay them $22 an hour?

I’ll be laying them off and taking out the trash and moping the floor myself. Don’t matter none to me. :)
