Well, FRiends..
Last Wednesday, Springfield Armory shipped my XDm .45 with FedEx to my home, and it should be here this Monday.
They had it because each XDm barrel is custom fit for each gun, and to install a threaded, extended barrel for suppressor use, they required the entire pistol be shipped to their shop.
Note to future stamp collectors: Get ALL of your extracurricular armory work done while waiting for your tax stamp.
Hopefully, by Monday evening, I will be getting a knock on my door and my 4.5 inch baby will be delivered.
I need to check their work and make sure that everything is aligned and safe for usage.
The reason that I'm creating this article is because I would really like to hear from other Stamp Collectors.
I want to listen to any advice that they might have.
I also would hope to have this post be useful for other FReepers who are thinking about going through the legal hurdles required to own SBRs, suppressors and other NFA items.
It only took me five months and change to get my tax stamp.
Perhaps it's time for more folks to take the plunge.
I don’t think federal stamp collecting is allowed here in CA.
It’s so effing stupid to have to pay a 200 dollar tax to buy a tiny muffler...@#$%^!
If I was more of a gun nut back then....
I wasn’t even political in those days.
And, I’m still kicking myself in the butt for that failure.
Just like every other good and wholesome thing in life. Sheeesh....
Sometimes I'm ashamed to admit I'm from there.
Oh, I was just telling my Wife that the stoopid $200 tax has been the same since 1934!
What was $200 worth back then?
Completely ridiculous!!
I also remember a thread here from a few years ago saying that Obama wanting to raise that tax to a HUGH rate.
Which is why I’m encouraging everyone I know to get these goodies while they can.
When I get my gun back and make sure that the work Springfield did is good to go, I’m going to invite everyone I know to shoot my gun with the silencer on it.
Strength in numbers.
Colorado’s been going downhill for a while, but I’m not going anywhere.
I’ll stay and fight.
You simply MUST do the same if you love your state.
I just got my trust set up this month. I’m wrapping up a couple of other fun projects first (a .460 rowland Glock 21 and a PTR PDW eventually to be a SBR) and then I’ll start placing orders at the silencer shop. the next big project will be a .300 blackout AR15 w/supressor and, hopefully, a PVS14/red dot.
I just found out there is a Jimi Hendrix Stamp. I saw a poster of it at the post office, full of bright glowing colors in a Peter Max motif. I know it’s not rare, nor will it be that dollar valuable, but I plan to get a few before they stop producing. I expect Steve Jobs to get his own stamp soon, if he doesn’t already have one created.
It is nice that airguns use what we call dust collectors. makes otherwise rather sharp, snappy pellet guns rather quiet.
IF it weren’t for that $200 tax and all the paperwork involved, a suppressor would cost about $50.
Colorados been going downhill for a while, but Im not going anywhere.
Ill stay and fight.
I’m with you. My family came to Colorado in 1858 and I ain’t leavin’.
Make sure that knock on the door isn’t BATFE goons. If Obama loses the Congress in November, he will release his flying monkeys just like the Wicked Witch.
Before you start your .300 Blackout project..
I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts (ThisWeekInGuns) this week and they said that there’s a new cartridge coming out.
.375 Reaper
You might want to check it out.
I see what you did there....
;-)
THANK YOU!!
Heh! My neighbors probably have more guns and ammo than I do -according to the UPS dude that delivers in this neighborhood.
