The incredible lightness of college morality

I am given to wonder if in the very near future all of us will be relegated to speaking Arabic, as a large number of our young people can't seem to distinguish good from evil

The kids at Harvard have been up so long it looks like down—literally, as Joe Biden would say. A recent poll taken by Campus Reform at Harvard University found that a fair number of students attending those ivied halls believe that America is a greater threat to world peace that ISIS. Yes, that ISIS, not the Egyptian goddess of health, marriage and wisdom, but the head-hackers currently raging through Iraq and Syria.

On a recent segment of “Fox News Insider, ” the panel that included country star John Rich and Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, among others, watched the Campus Reform video. And what was shown was an embarrassment to modern education, as America’s presumably “brightest” students betrayed a staggering inability to think criticall

They are the products of an obscene American popular culture, poor parenting and a declining national economy. These things are not fixable by their recognition....but only by an arising from their ashes.

students betrayed a staggering inability to think critically

American schools have been actively teaching "critical thinking skills" for decades now.

Doesn't matter what the question is -- the answer is: "Marxism". That's what critical thinking tells you. Of ourse, as Inigo Montoya might tell you, the phrase "critical thinking" may not actually mean what they think it means.

In the months leading up to the second world war we saw the same inversion of reason among the students at Oxford who responded to a debate at the Oxford Union and declared that they would never fight to defend their country. Certainly, they were no less disillusioned with England than students in America attending places like Harvard are with America.

In the face of this mindlessness, this servility to the leftism of the Oxford faculty (remember this was before the Ribbentrop/Molotov pact which caused great disillusionment on the left), this leftist impulse toward "critical thinking" as a tool to tear down the nation state to enable socialism to pour through the breach, England was rendered nearly naked in the presence of evil. But the faculty at Oxford did not count on the blundering of Corporal Hitler who made all clear by his invasion of Poland and sealed his own fate by declaring war on the United States after Pearl Harbor.

Sadly, there is reason to believe that the state of our faculty and our students in America today is worse than the mindset at Oxford Union in that day. We have the specter of Americans leaping to their deaths on 9/11 and today the specter of Americans being beheaded in front of the cameras on the Sands of the Middle East. Nothing seems to move the modern American left.

We always knew the left was immune to reason but now they are immune to emotion as well.

Yep, what is called critical thinking skills are actually behavior modification and moral “clarification” skills leaving our kids unable to decide what is right. They do learn though what is wrong like guns and homophobia.

A couple other things factor in, however, both from the outside: Firm rebuke from elders (including if necessary force of a corporal nature), and divine intervention of a nature beyond our control yet subject to pleadings from all who fail under the sun <—prayer.

We’re already living in dhimmitude. The fear of antagonizing American muslims by demanding they denounce radical islam is just one of the signs.

To me this is normalcy bias, a determination to keep ‘carrying on’ as if nothing is happening. A refusal to face reality and a determination to make someone else deal with the problem rather than become a mature adult and face it themselves.

I say, let society collapse and let these idiots be forced to learn the hard way how the world works. Why should the intelligent, smart, and hardworking carry their carcasses? As far as I’m concerned, if these idiots want to turn college/university into an extension of high school, fine. Let them throw it all away and rot on welfare if they want to throw away all those opportunities and all that time. I’m not among their number and will laugh at them as they struggle to find something to pay their way through life.

I’m an adjunct professor at a community college where I teach American History and the Constitution. Today I was getting some lunch in the cafeteria when I spotted a young man wearing a sweater emblazoned with huge letters that read: EAT PUSSY! DRINK WHISKEY! HAIL SATAN! I stood there for a moment contemplating how far our society has fallen in just 50 years. That kind of attire would never have been tolerated even as late as 1968...I’m sure though that his parents are proud of his clothing and the hubcaps in his ears....

College students today were little kids (5-7) on 9/11. They don’t remember it.

My daughter (High School Jr.) said she and another guy are the only ones in her class that stand for the pledge each morning. The teacher had some guy that helps out around the school that had been in Vietnam to talk to them about the pledge. She said the kids couldn’t care less.
