Last week both the Republican and Democrat wings of the Uniparty celebrated another defeat of the TEA party movement with the re-election of John Boehner as the Speaker of House. After all, try as it might the TEA party movement was not able to muster the necessary votes to at least push the contest into an embarrassing second round. Closer examination suggests a very different reality.
The rules of the House say that in an election for Speaker the person who gets the most votes of those actually present when the roll is called wins. Clearly this gives an advantage to an incumbent Speaker as he/she is in a position to work behind the scenes to lower the number of voting members.
In a collaborative effort that brought both the Republican and Democrat wing of the Uniparty together, the Democrat leader, Nancy Pelosi allowed (more like instructed) 12 of her members to stay away using Mario Cuomos funeral as their excuse; even though it was the day before the vote. That would have given them plenty of time to get to Washington and vote, but of course they didnt. That stunt, combined with a few legitimate weather problems, resulted in a voting poll that was reduced to 408 meaning Boehner really only needed 205 votes. Going into the vote the TEA party movement Republicans knew they could not derail Boehner yet 25 of them courageously voted against Boehners re-election.
This small step forward was absolutely a function of the TEA party movements, grass roots activism that elected more conservatives and swung state after state legislature...

GOPe twits maintain that the victory is nothing to sneeze at, especially since they have cut off their noses to spite their base.
I can’t believe how many GOPe morons and shills are right here on FR. It’s heartbreaking, really. Anyone voting for the GOP at this point is voting for the destruction of the Republic. Way to go!!!!
One problem was that none of the potential Tea Party speakers were really working for it. They weren’t burning up the phones to get votes. It was like deciding to have a dinner party arout 4pm: you’re just going to have pizza and chips instead of a crown roast.
Boehner had the biggest rebellion in nearly 100 years. We may not always win but sometimes making them sweat is enough.
Ruling class has paid social media workers....
Tea Party patriots really need to go beyond flag, motherhood and apple pie and get themselves up to speed with the federal governments constitutionally limited powers, Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers in particular.
Tea party is a school of thought, a belief system. It’s not a club that people join or leave. They will have to kill most of us to get rid of the tea party! Good luck with that...
Uplifting Article Ping!
Say what? Considering I believe that every conservative is dead-set against Obama's relaxing of the embargo, crediting them with the release of the prisoners is a huge stretch. The Castros want the end of the embargo as badly or worse than Obama does. They released them because they knew they had to in order to get the embargo dropped. There's still a lot of legislation that has to be repealed in order to end the embargo, and releasing prisoners isn't going to help that pass in a Republican Congress.
They can pretend the Tea Party doesn’t exist all they want. It’s not going away and it’s going to continue to eat away at the old guard establishment until they change.
They need to get with the will of the people or they will go the way of the dinosaurs.
I've told my rep that it's all about results now, not about optics. He voted for Boehner, he's married to him, and they start producing now or he's done. He's probably done anyway. No, the Tea Party isn't over, it's just getting started.
Here in Texas we watched the “Dead Tea Party” elect the MOST CONSERVATIVE bunch of Republicans ever elected in this state...and ALL OF THEM won by 20 points over the Democrats.
If the 2014 election is the definition of the “Dead Tea Party”, maybe we’ll get lucky and that “disease” will spread throughout the country.
“I cant believe how many GOPe morons and shills are right here on FR. Its heartbreaking, really. Anyone voting for the GOP at this point is voting for the destruction of the Republic.!!!!”
...or perhaps there are trolls here attempting to DEMORALIZE and SUPPRESS the Republican vote, by labeling all Republicans as terrible, as if they is NO DIFFERENCE between any of them.
But I KNOW that you wouldn’t be trying to do that. Right?
"You don't exist because I can't hear you!"
Absolutely not. After 30 years of being a Republican, formerly a Republican candidate for State office and a regular donor to Republican causes, I've learned the hard way that there ARE NO differences between R & D. The sooner everyone else learns it, the better off this Country will be.

Sounds very good...except there was not a SINGLE REPUBLICAN that voted for Obamacare. And votes on the Second Amendment are also virtually party-line
If you claim there’s NO DIFFERENCE between the parties, I SERIOUSLY QUESTION your motives on this site.
No, by all means, keep voting for the party that vows the “crush the Tea Party”. Meanwhile, hand in your American card, cuz you ain’t supporting anything remotely American.
