The suicide of Belgium: America behold your future unless we act now
La Salette Journey ^ | February 9, 2015 | Paul Melanson

Giulio Meotti, an Italian journalist with Il Foglio, wrote an interesting Op-Ed which I share here because it portends what is coming to America. It's only a matter of time. This because, like Belgium, America is committing spiritual and intellectual suicide.

Giulio Meotti: Belgium is Committing Suicide

As the capital of the European Union goes, so goes Europe. And the details are worse than you can imagine.

Belgium has the highest per capita number of Islamic terrorists gone to fight in Syria and Iraq than any other European country. Brussels is the capital of the holy war, as well as of the European Union.

The first European citizen to die on the battlefields of jihad was Muriel Degauque, a Belgian Catholic girl. Originally from Charleroi, she converted to Islam, changed her name to Myriam and died near Baghdad as a human bomb.

Two days before September 11, two Tunisians recruited in Belgium managed to kill the Afghan commander Massoud, enemy of al Qaeda and the Taliban. And the terror cell of Madrid's 2004 bombings came from the town of Maaseik.

So now churches need to send missionaries to Western Europe instead of Africa and Asia. Or Africa could sent missionaries to Europe except that African Christians are hard pressed by their own Mohammedan problems pushing further and further South.

Geert Wilders photo GeertWildersCPAC09.jpg In Holland, Gert Wilders and a few of his party are at least putting out the warnings. I wonder if any of the nationalist movements will gain traction in Belgium.

My wife and I made many trips to Belgium while we lived in Stuttgart, Germany (left 2010). We drove through Antwerp a few times on our way to Brugge (a beautiful place). Believe me there are places the police don’t go. Whole ethnic neighborhood with chickens running in the street, children naked and garbage everywhere. Scary! “Kingdom against kingdom and nation against nation,” political, ethnic, class, and financial upheaval. Used to be it was those “other countries over there” but now it’s coming here as well. Western democracies got a pass for awhile because of their strong Christian influence. Now it’s gone and the wheels are coming off.

We all know the story of the frog being placed in a pot of water that gradually grew warmer until it was too late and the frog was cooked. That is what is happening to Europe and the USA.

The fulcrum years where sometime about 1966-1968, when the gradual tipping of the West occurred, when overt paganism gradually insinuated itself into popular culture, when Christian values could no longer be assumed as normative, and which are now threatened with legal sanction in areas such as gay marriage.

Initially, this was a move away from Christianity towards secularism, and that is still the dominant pattern especially in the USA. But nature abhors a vacuum, and nihilism (the dirty little secret of secularism) is difficult to sustain. So now Islam is emerging to fill the void vacated by Christianity, a void which secularism cannot fill. In my view, Islam is acting as the punishing arm of God, just as God used Israel's ancient enemies as means of chastisement.

I was told a few years ago that Belgium would be the first Western European country to transition to Islam - I guess that is correct.
