I love it!

I go to fast food places in black neighborhoods, on occasion (and Polish neighborhoods, sometimes, and Mexican neighborhoods, and Italian), and I don’t worry about offending anyone: I’m the 6’-4, 225-lb white guy wearing a leather jacket, who looks like he just got off a motorcycle - because I did - and just *might* be carrying - and I am.

I offend nobody, disrespect nobody, and I expect to be treated the same.

I recently witnessed one of the most embarrassingly effusive and "sincere" greetings I have seen any past-her-expiration-date white female hipster deliver to anyone… and I've seen one or two. It was Harvey Korman-esque. The black gentleman reciprocated, but he had to have walked away laughing his azz off. Yeah, some of us really ARE that lame, buddy.

As a white Northeasterner who has heard a clear majority of the racist comments uttered in my presence on my relatively brief trips to the South, I’ve never understood that apparent conceit that you and others claim of better relations in your region.

The closest I've come to that movie is "A Time to Kill". But we moved down to southwest Georgia almost five months ago and you are ABSOLUTELY correct. Correct in the poor neighborhoods, the middle class subdivisions, and the workplace.
