On Friday’s “NewsHour” on PBS, New York Times columnist David Brooks was critical of the notion of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressing a joint session of Congress due to the politicization of the state of Israel.
“I think it’s a political disaster,” Brooks said. “It’s a substantive disaster for the state of Israel. I think it’s political disaster for Bibi Netanyahu back home, because they’re — most Israelis are really worried about the state of the relationship. It’s different than the past times, in part because it’s — as Mark said, it’s partisan now. Suddenly, Republicans are pro-Israel. And what are Democrats supposed to do?”
“Second, support for Israel, especially on the Democratic left, especially on college campuses, is more fragile than it’s ever been before,” he continued. “Third, the Iran situation is just this gigantically big issue, and existential for Israel, a serious issue for the United States. And to mess this up at a time when this issue is looming is cataclysmic, distracted the debate over the — what’s being settled between the U.S. and Iran into some sideshow. And I happen to think Netanyahu’s concerns about what — the deal we’re apparently getting close to with the Iranians are legitimate, but he has sidetracked that debate into something very self-destructive.”

Brooks is a paid mouthpiece for The Ministry Of Propaganda.
Nothing he says is conservative regardless of how they choose to label him.
Suddenly Republicans are pro-Israel Mr Brooks? Shouldn’t you be asking why Democrats are becoming anti-Israel and pro-Iran? What an idiot this guy is. I think Mr. Brooks is afraid to get his DC/NYC cocktail circuit card and status as the Democrats’ favorite go to RINO revoked!

I used to listen to Brooks a lot on NPR. I still catch him from time to time. I swear that he’d argue against the sun setting in the west. I could never take him seriously.
What he may mean is that the speech will be a disaster - for Obama’s goals.

There will be a diaster, but not for Israel.
Netanyahu will stick the the subject at hand-the danger of allowing a nuclear Iran. He will present his case backed with facts.
There will be no Obama bashing, direct or indirect. He will be direct and gracious. He will present as a leader, not the petulant child with Mommy issues we are enduring.
The disaster will come to fruition when the WH reacts in the petty, spoiled way in which we have come to expect.
What are Democrats supposed to do? They are supposed to support their nation’s allies, support and protect the constitution...not support a man/POTUS who celebrates a deserter by releasing 5 enemies, granting illegal amnesty, foisting an enormously wrong healthcare entitlement on the nation...that just for starters....Bibi is America’s friend..sad to say the POTUS, fundamentally changing our nation, isn’t.....Rudy is Right!
