No one can give me a compelling reason why we are forced to change our clocks twice a year. I say we abolish this nonsense, or at least split the difference by half an hour, and leave it alone.
But, in lieu of that, I thought we could have a music thread for Saturday night featuring time-themed songs. I'll start it out with Simon and Garfunkel's, "Hazy Shade of Winter."
So instead of setting at 8pm the sun will set at 9pm at the peak of summer.
Yeah . . . like that one extra hour is so important.
Beatles - Any Time at all
Billie Joel - For the longest time
Chairman of the Board - Give me just a little more time
Counting Crows - Time and Time again
Guess Who - No Time
Jethero Tull - A time for everything
Jack Johnson - Times like These
Josh Ritter - Here at the Right Time
Rory Gallagher - For the Last Time
Last but Certainly not Least Robert CRAY-Our Last time.
That is all. Check, please.
There are too many hundreds of thousands of businesses to get that done, across the board ... :-) ...
The standard business day is way too ingrained for various businesses ... for them to change it. AND ... from what I’ve seen from various businesses is that they would say that they don’t feel that they need to accommodate employees like that. They would say, “That’s not our problem.”
The current way it’s done is much more effective ... :-) ...
Yes, the Culture Club is a nice one from them:

Annette Hanshaw had a recording of that tune “There Ought to Be a Moonlight Savings Time” in the early-1930s. And if anyone on these boards knows of others that might have recorded it as well, it’s certainly you!
Exactly!
You and me both.
Calling it noon at 11am is no different than calling it July in June. It changes nothing and just disrupts everyone and everything.
I'll never understand why so many people are so in love with it. I wish the idea had never been thought.

the natureal progression of the earth around the sun is soemthing man can deal with....its incremental
daylight savings time is abrupt..un natural...and dis concerting to those of us who can still tell time near dawn and dusk by the amount of LIGHT there is.
In Portland (where I was for many years) you basically had until almost 10 PM, which made quite a difference. I always felt like it gave almost ANOTHER DAY in the evening.
In Prince Rupert (in Canada), where I’ve been too ... you would be talking about up to MIDNIGHT!
But, even in other latitudes, just that one hour would be enough extra time to decide to go ahead and do some evening activity. Just that ONE HOUR would be all it would take to make some activities possible.

You don't need daylight activities at midnight. If you like it that way, divide your year between the poles.
Would you like to run the calendar up a month so summer would last into October?
