Pretty soon my 2 year old son will be labeled racist for calling a Darth Vader helmet-—a black hat.
I don’t let others control my language. They can project all they want and twist words and “coded” meanings till they turn blue in the face.

"Thug" is from Thuggee, a cult in India, known for befriending travelers and then robbing and killing them.
Early use as 'ruffian,cutthroat' seems to be around 1839 in Confessions of a Thug by Philip Meadows Taylor.
