I have in Mexico.

Well it wasn't exactly panhandling, it was a guy trying to rent me his sister and it was the last time I went to Mexico, I think that was thirty years ago.

"I think the Hispanic community is a fundamentally conservative community. If you look at the values that resonate in our community, they're faith, family, patriotism, hard work," Cruz said.

I would like to say he's referring to the legal Hispanic bloc; i.e. those that have fully assimilated into American culture?

Of course, the illegals, just by being here, have already sold-out whatever principles they claimed to have.

They are not on the streets, they are playing the system 5 to a room inside on the dole. EBT, WIC, 15k a year for public education and free medical all while working for cash under the table.

Of course not-that is something sleazy contractors in big cities do.

Like I said, “there are enough willing workers in this rural area who are native-born Americans”-means I live in a rural area, with a couple of small towns within 22 miles-people actually want to work here.

Most of us out here are willing to work as laborers, no matter what our “regular job” is-we hire our neighbors-or their adult kids who live at home, not strangers hanging out-legal or not, that is asking for theft or worse on your jobsite-or of your personal stuff. People out here work with/for one another-that is preferred.

And I don’t load workers into my truck/SUV, either-most of them have their own truck/SUV, or they ride inside with me if another family member needs the truck...

How do you know he was from Brazil? Did he speak Spanish or Portuguese?

Since I speak neither Spanish nor Portugese, it's an assumption that he's Brazilian because that is the largest immigrant demographic in my area.

Begging for work without a green card? Let’s say for argument’s sake that we shouldn’t call it panhandling. What would you call it?

A crime.

Hispanics bum off their relatives that’s why they usually don’t bum on the street. It has little to do with superior integrity as Cruz annoyingly implies. There are greater family obligations in immigrant groups, basically the guilt trip is stronger.

Hispanics disproportionately use welfare programs so it’s not like they are ‘working harder’ as Cruz would imply.

“A majority of both illegal and legal Latino immigrants are on welfare of some sort...”
____________-

I’m very suspicious of this assertion. I’ve worked in restaurants, industry, and construction with lots of Hispanics and they were damned hard workers. Obviously they had jobs, but if ever there was an opening on the job site, they would scorch the supervisor to give the job to someone they knew who was ready to work. There may be many on some sort of assistance, but I’d be surprised if it was a majority.

If they’re filing for taxes, they’re eligible for EITC. Even if they’re not, they were getting free healthcare before Obamacare. They are generally low-income workers, getting heating subsidies in cold-weather states, other reduced utilities, etc., etc.

They’re not all reclining on the sofa eating bon bons—they’re likely working at very low-wage jobs and raising their many future-voter babies. I’ve seen numbers putting it at approximately 57% for both legals and illegals from Latin countries.

Unfortunately, as much as I support Cruz, I have seen hispanic panhandlers.

Sorry, Ted, no criminal enabler gets my vote.

Does that mean that if Cruz wins the primary election you are going to stay home and not vote?

I’m not sure if it was a stupid thing to say or not;

It might not resonate with me, but I’m already on board.
It might resonate with a Hispanic voter though.

No, I’ve never seen any either.

The hispanic illegals came here to work, and they will openly beg for the opportunity to work, but not for gifts.

>> “I”ve never seen a Greek panhandler either for that matter.” <<

Then you’ve never been to Greece!

They have become a nation of freeloaders, that will burn, loot and kill for freebies.
