Republican senator Ted Cruz said Wednesday afternoon he is long-term optimistic and short-term pessimistic on the question of passing any immigration reform legislation. Speaking with Javier Palomarez, the president of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Texan presidential candidate said he considers himself a proponent of immigration reform. But, Cruz added, political leaders should focus on those aspects that have bipartisan support.

So the scam is to set the qualifications for the position so high that nobody who turns in a legitimate resume is qualified, then you apply for a visa for some less than optimal candidate from India or Pakistan to come here and get on the job training from your current IT employees until they learn the ropes and then you lay off the Americans because your foreign workers are willing to do the same job for half the pay.
That's the way it works, right?
I've made my last donation to his campaign. Walker may be flip flopping, but at least he's moving in the right direction.
This is one issue that Cruz needs to reverse course on.
Our customers set the qualifications and being a US citizen with a security clearance is usually one of them in our market, so no, you are off-base.
That’s your choice, but you aren’t going to get a candidate that is going to take a stand against legal immigration. All Walker said was he’d look at how it affects American jobs. He will flip yet again at some point. Legal immigration, by definition, is under control and broadly supported, illegal immigration is neither under control nor supported by the public.
Then why are you arguing for importing candidates for these jobs if your clients are insisting on American Citizens?
The only reason I can think of for your position is that you want to dilute the pool of qualified Americans with scores of foreigners who go to work for other companies so that when you find a qualified American, that you can pay him less because the wage base has been lowered due to all the imported labor.
I couldn’t care less either way. The only thing I am arguing is there are labor shortages.
Just some food for thought:
Scott Walker

Endorses path to citizenship for immigrant workers. (Jul 2013)

And you trust Walker more on immigration? Based on some educatated and skilled LEGAL immigrants that are a relative drop in the bucket? I would rather all Americans get all American jobs as well, but this is your show stopper?
There aren't - see post #112
When I was growing up a two income family was rare and people who worked in machine shops could buy a home on one income. Now machine shop jobs pay minimal wages and the industry is overloaded with foreign born people who make minimum wage a career.
We need to limit all immigration and significantly reduce the number of people who come here from foreign countries to take jobs from Americans who need the work.
This is one area where Cruz is out of touch with his base. It could cost him the election.
The last web building app I used was MS Front Page. I HATED it and stopped using it after a few weeks. Front Page generated unmaintainable garbage code. I like nice clean well documented HTML code so I write it myself.
LOL. Tell that to the millions of qualified American Citizens who can't find a decent paying job in the fields they were laid off from.
Someday you will be replaced by a foreigner or a machine. Then you might care a little more.
Front page was hot garbage, for sure.
Yes, he is (how long would it reallyt take any object-oriented programmer to learn the SharePoint Object Model?) - and even if his clearance requirement allowed him to look overseas he wouldn't find one ... though he might find one or more willing to lie about their experience to get their foot in the door.
I believe the Cruz amendments were only proposed, and never made it to the bill. What is generally pointed to as actually killing the bill is Rubio's insistence on an enforcement first trigger.
Campaigning on expanding a program as controversial and unpopular as the HB-1, is really foolish.
We are all proponents of immigration reform, even if it’s getting tough.
Another asinine comment.
Fixed.
Because pricks like you won't POST the salary.
