There are moments when I come thisclose to quitting Twitter. The amount of hatred squeezed into 140 characters or less by lunatics usually cloaked in anonymity is enough to make you question your support for the First Amendment and your faith in the decency of other people. To the uninitiated, the torrent of bigotry can leave you feeling violated. Even the most seasoned, battle-scarred, seen-it-all, can’t-nuthin’-shock-me individual will be left O-o by the filth in his or her Twitter feed.
A story I just read by David Badash at thenewcivilrightsmovement.com about the welcome President Obama got upon joining Twitter left me slack-jawed.

that should be easy enough to figure out. how long have the accounts responding to him been posting on twitter?
sure it could be the long con, but I have no doubt there are many many racists on twitter. I grew up with more racists than I care to think of now, and like the president or don’t like the president (I’m not a fan at all), going to the level that was posted on his thread doesn’t help the case against him at all.
It would not surprise me if that Twitter account weren’t created expressly for the purpose of putting up phony racist tweets and attributing them to conservatives. C’mon, NO ONE would say “Hey n-——r CONSERVATIVES welcome you to Twitter.” Except lying liberals...
My mistake. That quote was not a tweet but a quote by David Balderdash.

The White House Social Media director and their staff have hundreds, if not thousands, of Twits who daily Tweet all the BS that gets handed to them. They all come out with the exact same thoughts, with similar wording, simultaneously and every time we're supposed to think its all "grass roots" reactions and opinions. It's such a farce... and waste of our money.
