Taylor Swift: "Misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born"

In a newly released interview, Taylor Swift said that she believes “misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born."

Ms. Swift was heavily criticized by feminists in 2012 when she stated that the word "feminist" was "too strong" a word to describe her. In the last three years, however, her opinions have changed.

Today, Ms. Swift believes that feminism is “probably the most important" thing that women can get involved with. According to the young star, inequality is difficult to overcome because “misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born."

She continued, “So to me, feminism is probably the most important movement that you could embrace, because it’s just basically another word for equality."

Ms. Swift also said that women face a harsh double-standard, explaining, “A man writing about his feelings from a vulnerable place is brave; a woman writing about her feelings from a vulnerable place is oversharing or whining.”

Taylor Swift said that she believes “misogyny is ingrained in people from the time they are born."

It usually starts when some snotty nosed little girl gets her way by crying to an adult. If it weren't for certain womanly attributes there would be a bounty on most of them.

Especially for those who get into the business young. This situation also tends to correlate with family breakup, when one parent is way into the young person’s career while the other isn’t.

It’s hard enough for ordinary kids to get through high school with any kind of mental health, especially if their parents have divorced. Then imagine the weirdness of being a huge star at 15.

Did she get burned, or did they find out she’s a shallow bitch?

What difference does it make? For one thing, all teenaged girls are “shallow,” at least compared to most adults. And there’s nothing wrong with a dating couple’s ceasing to date one another, or one party’s deciding no longer to date.

My point is that she was hurt, which is entirely predictable, and she has apparently responded with entirely predictable, but sad, cynicism and aggressiveness.

It sounded like you were blaming the guys. I agree with the rest of your post.

I don’t know enough (from my reading of gossip magazines in the Walmart line and the dentist’s office) to consider assigning blame.

Several of her boyfriends were much older, which is not a problem when one person is 30 and another’s 45, but is a problem when one person is 16 or 17 and the other is late 20s or older. In my opinion, this is something her parents should have prevented, but perhaps, in the circumstances, they didn’t have the authority.

Exactly.

Even out in the real world, once a child is 18, parents have very little official recourse. The “stick” most parents have is that their child wants to continue living at home rent-free. When your child says, “But I’m an adult,” you can respond, “Fine. You’re an adult. Turn in your house key and walk out the door. Write when you find work.”

Damn and I thought she was sweet, innocent and pure, oh well, I will still listen to her older songs at least when she back then was pure.

Boo hoo. Why do spoiled stars always find something to whine about? As if anyone cares what these mental midgets think about anything. As Ann Coulter says, “Shut up and sing.”

LOL. That’s a childhood staple of mine right there. My dad used to coat the stuff in flour and fry it up nice and crispy. Delicious.

How about if the men stand up for real women instead of the Barbie Dolls and Trophy wives they seem to cater to the most.

I’ve never had the displeasure of hearing her music, and if she’s quoted correctly, these statements of her’s proves shes a space cadet.

Since the dawn of radical feminism the fem-nazis have demanded that men express their feelings and vulnerability. Real men don’t whine about their problems. Period.

This is the next phase of her image. She has has a new ultra-violent rap video to go with it.

They all follow the same trajectory. Brittney, Katie, Miley... all of them. Play nice, win the parents’ trust, suck the young girls in, then turn and corrupt.

Swift will be on the tabloid covers, outdoing her predecessors, in no time.
