Obama again praises S. Korea for ‘paying teachers the way they pay doctors’
The Korea Times ^ | July 17, 2015 | Brian Han

During U.S. President Barack Obama’s speech on Wednesday regarding a new government initiative to bring high speed internet access to low-income groups, the topic of South Korea’s education system came up.

“In South Korea they pay their teachers the way they pay their doctors,” he said in front of an audience at Durant High School in Durant, Okla. “They consider education to be at the highest wrung of the professions.”

The reason it came up at all had to do with South Korea’s widespread high speed internet access especially in the city’s capital of Seoul.

Obama voiced a similar statement in April when he said that teachers are ”paid at the level that doctors and engineers are paid.”

In fact, he has frequently lauded South Korea’s education system since taking office in 2009.

But the claim drew criticism because there isn’t hard evidence available that supports the idea that pay is equal among the mentioned professions. In fact, the Korean Federation of Teachers Association (KFTA) pointed out that significant salary disparities exist particularly between doctors and teachers. The KFTA later mentioned that the assertion was most likely a “misunderstanding.”

Yes, of course they do. They’re actually more advanced, in many ways, than we are. Which is stunning, as they were a high-grade yet third-world country when I was stationed there.

Never. They torture dogs before killing them for meat because they believe it makes the meat more tender. Never will I believe they are advanced in any way. Never.

And I mean really sickening cruel torture. Not quick.

“They consider education to be at the highest wrung of the professions.”

I guess that they were wrung out and hung up to dry after reaching that rung of the profession.

South Korea has an epidemic of kids who study past midnight.

Their kids like math!

It is a very different culture.

And when would that have been? In the 1950s? The 1990s?

I lived there for two years and was all over the place. I only saw dogs butchered and for sale once. They are probably the hardest-working people I’ve ever met and can be very friendly or very militant, depending on the situation. Also, they fought beside us in Vietnam (two large divisions and a brigade) and in Iraq. Every society has some dark sides. I love dogs, just as you obviously do, but it’s hard to judge someone else’s civilization by our standards.

They don’t want him. Blacks are looked down upon there in ways that would’ve made Bull Connor blush.

To Obama, teachers are the front line shock troops of the one-world revolution. They mold and shape the young minds into such a muddled mush of socialism they can’t think straight. No wonder he thinks they should be paid as much.

Teacher salaries can be re-evaluated and adjusted when they have to start buying malpractice insurance.

Teachers are highly paid because they are highly qualified. There is no way a bottom third student, from a third-tier college, could enter the teaching profession over there.

According to literature it is sold widely in restaurants. There are videos of the torture they use and it is so so inhumane. Beyond belief.

Sorry but they will not get a nod of positive anything from my direction until they stop being so cruel. Thanks for your input though.
