It's Time for Conservatives to Reject Donald Trump
The Federalist ^ | 07-29-2015 | Patrick Hedger

This has gone on long enough. All that anyone can talk about right now is how Republican voters are itching for someone to “stand and fight,” “speak his mind,” and “tell it like it is.” All right then, here goes.

Donald Trump is not a conservative, and it’s beyond time every Republican knows it. This MSNBC caricature of the GOP incarnate is getting heaps of praise from frustrated conservative base voters and unfortunately too much airtime from conservative political pundits because he evidently “tells it like it is.”

Except that he doesn’t.

He is performing a valuable service in my opinion. Especially if it forces Jeb to go out and speak some more Mexican. When I hear Cruz say it’s time for Donald Trump to drop out then I might consider it. Until then, now way in hell.

You nailed it.

...”Donald Trump is not a conservative? Who knew?
Didn’t know that. Hey, and thanks to “The Federalist” for letting me know.
Who writes these articles anyways? Does he think conservatives are stupid? We know exactly who/what Donald Trump is. It’s not exactly a second rest. Most of his life has been spent in the media headlines. That’s not what his current popularity in the polls is about.”...

And, we are done with media analysis to tell us who is who and what is what. We are smart, we have paid attention, we know what our country should stand for and we know corruption when we see it over and over again. Trump is the best person out there right now to fight the battles which will be necessary to be fought to fix this mess we are in. Hold the line, Trump. We are grateful for you.

Walker is a sell out. It remains to be seen if everyone will be. I don’t have much hope in government anymore. Things are too far gone.

Out of curiosity, what’s wrong with tariffs?

Wouldn’t it be good to make the US and Canada able to compete in the manufacturing market? How can you compete when products are being imported en masse by companies that can make them for almost no labour costs?

Cruz for Senate Majority Leader.

Not that I disagree with you, but that will only happen in a alternative universe...

The Senate has rules on who's in line for leadership roles...

The GOPe would never elect Cruz for majority leader...

Why would I want to vote for another ‘politician’? I want someone who has a spine, who isn't ‘owned’ by anyone, who knows how to get jobs going to make money for this Country, who can for see the things ‘politicians’ lie about everyday....

Trump for the next sitting POTUS=getting America working again....

Cruz for the ‘pzazz’ of getting the House and Senate to tell the lobbyists to take a hike.....

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!

“Thank you, Mr. Trump, for raising the issue of border security, as if it weren’t already an integral part of every single platform the other GOP candidates”

Obviously it’s only a central issue to Trump, or we would have heard a LOT MORE about it before Trump showed up.

That’s good enough for me to vote for him. If the others choose to follow Rove’s instructions and not discuss ‘divisive’ issues, then I have NO CONFIDENCE that they even understand the importance of Border Security. Not to mention that most of them (Cruz excepted) have supported some form of Amnesty in their past...sometimes REALLY BAD Amnesty plans.

There is one other candidate who has actually done this IN Washington and before that in his own state...for far longer than Trump has been conservative. So, your opinion may include the word only, but history demonstrates at least that part of the opinion is just wrong. And that's FACT.

Cruz is currently polling at 4%. That is about 6/1 Americans prefer Trump. That is a fact.

If Cruz is still in the game 10 months from now, I plan to vote for him in the primary. If all Trump does is keep Jeb! out He is worth supporting all the way.

For now I am enjoying the man beating up the media and republicrat "leadership".

>> that will only happen in a alternative universe <<

Yeah, but there seem to be a lot of “alternative universers” around here — like those who support Trump because he says things like, He’ll make the Mexicans pay for the border fence. Talk is easy. Reality is sometimes a bit more difficult.

good point about Florida....its key in the primaries. Bush and Rubio are favs....hometown boys...but as of now Trump leads in the race and Walker may skip the primary here. That will change...but the main thing is to get rid of Bush. Unless Trump or others are waaaay ahead then Florida primary voters need to vote Rubio...just to get rid of Bush. Florida is a winner take all state!! And a closed primary!

Of course it would be best if Bush is dumped before the Florida primary.

“I don’t have a problem pulling for Trump but everyone has a vote and at least 50% of Republicans and virtually all Dems are not going to, under any circumstances.”

That’s because he hasn’t finished nailing down the base. He’s not campaigning to them, yet. That comes later. It was IDENTICAL with Reagan - the party was CONVINCED that there was no way he could beat Carter. At one point (Jan, 1980), Reagan was down 37 points.

But then Reagan started explaining himself to the remainder of the country, and the rest is history.

Boo hoo. Trump has conservative rhetoric. At least he doesn't sound like a Democrat Liberal such as Jeb Bush when he gives speeches.

Jeb Bush is a Liberal Republican.

Trump separates the sheep from the goats.

If you say you are a conservative but support Trump you are not a conservative.

Trump is Giuliani 2.0

Riiiiight! When piggs fly and birds quit doing it!
You used some significant words there: “viable candidates”. And just whom might THAT be....who can run their campaign exactly as they like, with no need to suck up to any deep pocket$ donor$ and convince said donor$ that it’s to the donor’s advantage to give THEM million$ of campaign cash.

I’d LOVE to see a video of your “viable” candidate going to the Political-Industrial-Financial cabal in DC and saying, “Will you give me $$$$$Millions for my campaign? I promise to see to it that any new auto factories are built HERE in the U.S. I also pledge to jerk the slack out of Japan, China, Mexico, et al, and limit their exports TO America to the exact amount they IMPORT FROM America. I also have some other plans with which to stanch the $$$$$ hemmhoraging and bring deficit spending to screeching halt. And one of my most driving intentions is to bust up the Good ol’ Boy network in Washington, DC. How many Million$ will YOU give me?”

Get real! Trump is the ONLY viable candidate who can ACTUALLY DO what he says, with total disregard for who he P.Os or anything else.

TRUMP-CRUZ 2016!

I know this is minor to some people but Trump wants to go after the “disability racket” which is mostly made up of psychiatrists inventing phony disorders and “diagnosing” people with these so they can get on the dole. What this shows me is that Trump is paying attention to the nuts and bolts of our economy ,not just bombast and noise for attention. Not one other candidate except Rand Paul or Ted Cruz seem interested actually doing something about the bureaucracies that are strangling us. All the others just want to “reform” them or worse, use them to enforce their particular for of totalitarianism. Most of these candidates are still Statists.

It’s a little more than that. Cruz is still stuck in a legislative mindset of solving problems.

Well, he is a senator, so attaching amendments and stuff is what he does and what people will see him doing when he’s in his senator role. But when I hear him speak on the campaign trail I don’t hear a legislator. I hear a big picture guy. When he destroyed the Code Pink lady the other day he sounded presidential to me. That said, I’m not totally convinced that he’s quite got the oomph in the relatability department. I think the debates are going to be the test for Cruz. If he doesn’t catch fire then, then he’s probably not going to catch fire.
