Will 2016 Be A Climate Hysteria Election?
powerlineblog.com ^ | Aug. 14, 2015 | Steven Hayward

Will the climate campaign ever reach its “sell-by” date? Probably not: the deep need for belief in catastrophism—and the expansion of political power that is always deemed necessary to “solve” the problem—will persist even if we run out of witches to drown. Perhaps the most damaging trope of climate catastrophism is that “we only have X years left” before it will be too late. James Hansen said it was 2010. Al Gore thought the Arctic would be ice-free by last year. I’m pretty sure if I look I can find someone who said that Obama was our last hope.

But sure as clockwork, along comes Alan Neuhauser, who is described as “an energy, environment and STEM reporter for U.S. News & World Report (is USNWR still a thing?), writing today that the 2016 election “may be America’s last chance to elect a leader who will halt climate change.” What—is this prospective climatista president going to “halt climate change” by issuing a really stern executive order? Bring on the bumper stickers now: “Canute for President.”

Wait—I thought we already elected a president who halted climate change, or at least halted the rise of the sea level. That was declared to have happened on election night in 2008, remember? And now we have Obama’s terrific “Clean Power Plan” that environmentalists like Fred Krupp say puts us surely on the path to salvation. Why do we need to elect another climate savior president? I’m confused here.

Polls continue to show that the so-called "climate change" threat is dismissed by most Americans as very low on their priority list.

I hope the idiocy dies out, but doubt it will.

Alan Neuhauser should check into a mental ward somewhere, because he is bat$hit crazy.

The idiocy will not die out until the “concern” trolls on our side stop giving the idea any legitimacy.

Our driving issues, as far as conservative Americans are concerned, are threefold IMO:

1) Our current administration and government under its control are completely lawless and have a goal to destroy the traditional fabric of this country,

2) Our GOP Republican leadership are appeasing cowards whose only goal is reelection and accumulating enough feathers for their retirement beds. Corrupt, dishonest and disloyal, and

3) Our country is being destroyed by the refuse from the rest of the world. Mexico and points southward that assist their dregs in their trek to this country are enemies. Our appeasing coward RINOs and Democrats assist this devolution and destruction for votes and business.

With Hillary in deep doo doo over her private e-mail server etc., I see where Al Gore is thinking of getting into the water again. This should get interesting what with Crazy Joe already making moves to get in. Keep the microwave popcorn in supply folks and prepare to watch the show.

I wouldn’t doubt it.

The brainwashing in academe, especially colleges and universities, took three routes up until the early 90’s:
Class
Race
Gender

These were considered The Big 3. All avenues of thought and commentary followed The Big 3 (TV, Hollywood, news, etc.).

In the early 90s, the cultural Marxists added a fourth route:
Ecology

The Dims have so hamstrung themselves by putting at their vanguard such despicable, corrupt politicians, that they really can’t run on any of The Big 3 (the first black president, the first female president, the first poor/communist president).

So, yes, it is a distinct possibility that 2016 will be the first presidential election that they use to run a candidate on:
The First Ecological President

It's not the concern trolls. It's LOTS and LOTS of government money.

I heard on the news that Al Gore was absolutely positively not going to run for president.

What that means is:
This was a direct quote from a spokesman of Al Gore’s 2016 Presidential campaign and he is having posters & buttons printed, radio & TV ads prepared and spending a lot of time with Fundraisers.

Whoever is running that proclaims the earth is melting and that we will all need kayaks to navigate the streets isn’t going to get my vote anyone else right of center either. I hope the leftists identify themselves this way and lose all their votes at the polling booths.

There is catastrophe that will be associated with “climate change”, but not for the reasons the doomsday prophets claim.

The catastrophe will come from a completely unrealistic and ineffectual “response” to the imagined climate change, that shall impose a tyrannical reign in terms of minutely detailed regulatory authority, and confiscatory taxes that completely drain the resources to act in any responsible way in moving upon the REAL challenges facing the world. That did not work in the Middle Ages and it won’t work now, even with all the superior means of enforcing compliance that modern technology provides.

The real agenda of the lawless Current Regime now squatting in the White, er, “Rainbow” Hut, is not mitigation of weather patterns in any way. It is DECREASING the human population of this planet to perhaps only a very small percentage of its current size.

Trouble is, there is no “clean” way to do that without INTRODUCING a vast catastrophe.

It is only about power, control and money. These people have tried communism, socialism, fascism and all the traditional counter-establishment “isms” and realize they just do not work for very long.

They also can’t create a hallelujah religion because Islam has that wrapped up with insanity, so they can come up with the next best thing -— the church of the climate.

STILL, those of us on this side who give them any sense of consideration as anything beyond insanity are doing us all a disservice. You don’t argue with a rabid dog, you shoot it.

Let’s do some math-

The total mass of Earth’s atmosphere is about 5.5 quadrillion tons,

Man has produced how many tons of CO2 over the industrial age?

What % of the earth’s atmospheric tonnage does that amount to? I’m probably being too conservative) We have produced only 0.00022% of ALL CO2 in the atmosphere- that’s it- and since natural CO2 is just .004% of the atmosphere- that means we’re only responsible for such a SMALL % of the total atmosphere that it’s not even significant in the slightest- there is simply NO way man can be responsible for global climate change- none!

‘Scientists’ should be ASHAMED of themselves for even suggesting man is responsible!

Our atmosphere is comprised of 6 quadrillion tons of molecules- 6 quadrillion folks! ALL natural and man made CO2 amounts to just 8 billion tons- That is NOTHING compared to the sheer volume of atmosphere- it practically doesn’t even register- it is such a small portion of our atmosphere that there is absolutely NO way such a small amount can capture near enough heat to raise our earths temps one iota- period!

[[[[2) Man-made carbon dioxide emissions throughout human history constitute less than 0.00022 percent of the total naturally emitted from the mantle of the earth during geological history.]]

Of course it’s relevant- climates change all the time- CO2 spikes all the time- There is no scientific doubt about that- and to try to blame climate change on 0.00022% of the atmosphere is ludicrous regardless of how old you might think the earth is- the fact remains the total amount of CO2 produced by man for the whole of the industrial age is just 0.00022% in relation to the total tonnage of atmosphere- please explain to everyone how just 0.00022% of the atmosphere can cause global climate change? Please explain how just 0.00022% of our atmosphere can capture enough escaping heat, then back radiate a FRACTION of that heat back to earth to cause climate temps to rise? (and note, I’m being generous because not all of the 0.00022% over the industrial age is still I n the atmosphere

The Goreacle, of course!

It's still amazing to behold that he garnered the popular vote back in 2000; just dayum, I thought 0bama voters were idiots.

You make a good point, we shall see.

Will 2016 Be A Climate Hysteria Election?

After eight disastrous years of The Won (in many respects, even from the perspective of those who'd support him)? I doubt it.

Polls continue to show that the so-called "climate change" threat is dismissed by most Americans as very low on their priority list. I hope the idiocy dies out, but doubt it will.

Personally, I hope they NEVER stop campaigning on it; that and gun control. What's bad is when they don't mention it during campaign, then after getting elected, enact it when it actually counts, or when RINO's who claimed not to be hoodwinked fail to stop it, or may even vote for it themselves.

Well, I don’t think they meant he was actually going IN the water. Although, if he did, that beach would probably be shark-safe for years, as they’d still be sated.

Remember the great penis scare of the 1990s?

Due to environmental toxins, sperm counts were in free fall, and the world was doomed.

Scandinavian researchers discovered that a nearly 50% decline in sperm counts had taken place over the last 50 years, probably because of “endocrine disruptors” that are everywhere in our poisonous, chemical-infested modern world, and Greenpeace used the study for fundraising under the slogan, “You’re not half the man your father was.”

Moreover, the penis was suddenly at increased risk of deformity: It was reported that there had been an explosion in instances of hypospadias, a common birth defect in which the urethral opening is in the wrong place on the penis.
Since we have to be terrified of something at all times, new fears have sprung up to replace the old ones.

Except none of the above was happening. Scary sperm-count studies have gone limp...”
