The Elite Have Prepared For The Coming Collapse – Have You?
ZeroHedge ^ | 9/7/15 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 09/07/2015 9:54:36 AM PDT by Kartographer

Earlier this year, the Mirror published an article all about this entitled “Panicked super rich buying boltholes with private airstrips to escape if poor rise up“. Here is a brief excerpt…

Robert Johnson, president of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, told people at the World Economic Forum in Davos that many hedge fund managers were already planning their escapes. He said: “I know hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand because they think they need a getaway.” Keep in mind that these are not just some rumors that Robert Johnson has heard. These are people that he knows personally and that he interacts with regularly.

If I stock up my pantry and have extra ammo, and what is more or less some extended camping gear I am paranoid, but drop a few million on a 'bolt hole' half way around the world and you are normal?

You can’t bug out to New Zealand....they can’t feed themselves. Rely on imports. You can’t go anywhere that isn’t self supportive.

You have to be able to grow your own food and protect it. That’s it.

PERIOD.

I just sold my mom’s house in Northern VT. One of the guys that looked at it had already bought 3,000 acres of land. He was looking for a place for his parents.

This guy had a security business in NYC and he was getting ready to “retire” in the next couple of years.

You don’t get mouth more remote in the northeast than Northeast VT, northern NH, and the back woods of Maine. If anyone makes it to those areas after a collapse...they probably know what they are doing and would add to your “collective.”

They grow great lamb, and their cheese is pretty good too.

A couple years back, I was working at Amazon’s CEO’s estate and noticed he had a chicken coop.

My sister and brother in law in the Seattle area have 7 chickens. I house sat for them and the chickens were the easiest - compared to the dogs and cats. All they need is a goat or two.

My very well off nephew in Carlsbad has chickens also. They’re actually incredibly useful.

Unless they are planning on living on a desert island with only close relatives, they will be tortured and dead in short order.

When the money that bought you bodyguards and servants is useless, how much longer do think you will be protected or served?

It will be very interesting to see what this month and October bring. There are just so many “signs” indicating turmoil that it’s hard to think nothing will happen. Seems it’s just a matter of when, and perhaps it will be soon.

If there were some kind of uprising against the plutocracy, hedge managers fleeing to remote rural areas would be like lambs trying to hide in a cave with wolves.

I’m sure they’ve already got that covered.

Maybe they’ll bring a dozen or so people already armed with the skills to grow/fetch their food for them and supply them with some of the conveniences the rich have become accustomed to.

Or possibly they have contacts in NZ (or wherever) already who will take care of food, medicine, water, and other accommodations.

Chaos and turmoil? Roiling masses of starving and diseased? Nothing the Rapture would not solve for those trusting in The Lord’s soon return for His bride. If I prep, it is for natural disasters, or for my non-believing relatives after I’m departured. (See 2 Thess 2)

I’m very glad you wrote that. When I look at my supplies, I can’t get past something deep within me that thinks/knows I’ll probably not be using any of them. You’ve just helped me address that. Thanks.

Not the place I would personally choose to bug out to in the coming Maunder Minimum, but to each his own I guess...

I had to cut down some dead trees on my property, so went to work today with my chainsaws. I cut some of the smaller logs and branches for good kindling and firestock today for my wood pile. I don't have a log splitter so I need to order another cord of seasoned oak, but having a hard time finding any this year (one told me I was too "early" to ask for delivery). Well, I don't want to wait until the end of September to get some ordered.

Going to have a car repaired this week if I can get it into the shop. I don't want to put repairs off until the fall.

Bought about 2 dozen fresh butter and sugar corn, took it off the cob, blanched it 3-4 mins, let it cool, and placed them into freezer bags after removing almost all the air. You leave 1" at the top of the bag for expansion during freezing.

I had to laugh.

I asked this guy was “from there”, which is possible. Many of them retire back to that part of the world. My parents did.

But if anyone thinks there will be a deer, moose, or bird alive in those forests within 30 days of a “collapse” they are sadly mistaken.

In the back woods, poaching happens every weekend. I cannot imagine what would happen with NO Wildlife control.

Nope, in talking to the natives they pretty much told me to stock up the cabin. And that I would be lucky to make it there.

Cold as a witches appendage in the winter. But lots of wood. The stove heats the whole house and there is plenty of it stacked.

Not exactly living large, but more liveable than my home in MA.
