This week five Chinese navy ships have been spotted in the Bering Sea. In a bold and ambitious move, the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) sent five ships in a show of force off the waters of Alaska during Barack Hussein Obama’s visit. The Pentagon confirmed the PLA Navy presence in the narrow passage between Russia and Alaska. The sighting marks the first time the Chinese military was in the arctic region. (1) (2)
The PLAN is the naval warfare branch of the People’s Liberation Army, the national armed forces of the People’s Republic of China. Established in 1950, it can trace its history to naval combat units fighting during the Chinese Civil War. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s the modern Chinese Navy was trained and equipped by the Soviet Union. The PLAN was mainly a brown-water navy until the late 80’s when it developed into a green-water navy. Still, China’s navy plays a subordinate role to the People’s Liberation Army Ground Force.
The trip to the Bering Sea amounted to a “show” for President Obama; the purpose to demonstrate that China could mount a regional blue-water offensive force not to taken lightly. Yet China still has a long way to go before it will be able to project the power equivalent to an Aircraft carrier battle fleet.

Surface ships are ducks for aircraft & subs. The Chinese know that. This was about sending a message to the Dear Leader.
I’ve said for many months now that we are in the calm before the storm. The “bad guys” know they have until Obama leaves office. They are making their plans against us and know their time is short. The “storm” will happen sometime between the time you are reading this and the time when Obama is no longer president.
But they are in no “real” hurry. It’s like any project with a completion or “implementation” date. For Hitler, it was September 1, 1939.
And the days now are politically and eerily similar to the weeks leading up to that date.
Hence my tag line.

The Israelis, Russians, Iranians Chinese, Germans, et al have all the goods on POS Obama.

I agree. It's about to get dicey.
Here's the other side to that coin. Obama is a narcissist, and he knows he only has a year and change until he leaves office. And he has had no great military successes. That wouldn't bother a normal person, but it might bother a narcissist.
He might well provoke some foreign power (maybe the Chinese?) to get that military success.
By the way, many folks (including me) think that's why Bill Clinton got involved in Kosovo. He wanted the rush of being a "war president".
I read the article the other day, but did it mention the several Russian ships cruising around the Arctic Circle?

In John Paul Jones day some significance could be placed on this 5 Chinese ship movement “militarily”.
But, in today’s world of satellite imagery capable of reading ribbons on a Chinese Admirals chest, and blindingly fast weapons that operate in tandem with them, China would lose these ships in minutes or hours, not months or years.
They wasted their time. Dear Leader is oblivious.
I wonder how long it will take before its a carrier battle group off the Alaska coast? That seems to be their strategy.
That actually is part of the formula, as far as I’m concerned. It’s a perfect storm coming from several directions.
It is no surprise the the Chinese are getting “better faster” than our “experts” have predicted.
They can now track our subs around the South China seas and their new missiles can overwhelm the defenses of the US carrier task forces.
We have about 80 attack subs, less than 20 boomers, and 11 aircraft carriers. Wouldn’t take too long to change the balance of power.
Remember, like the Brits in the early 20th century, the US has to have enough navy to fight on all the seven seas...2.5 wars used to be the rule...the Chinese only need to dominate in the South China Sea and the approaches.
