The odd thing about this scenario...is that it appears that theres yet another vehicle locked in an old barn...very nearby...

You could still get parts for that thing. If the engine is still in there then it could be made road worthy in not to long of time. After about $4k in brakes, tires, clutch etc. As for looks I’d leave it as is, well new glass of course....

“Then I want another to cut my property. This yard is hell on riding mowers - got two and they’re always up on ramps for something.”

Highly recommend John Deere. In 1974 I bought a JD 212 garden tractor with 47” mower, 47” snow blade, and tire chains. It cost $1700 for everything. I lived in Michigan then and cut 3 acres all summer and plowed the driveway in winter.

Even though I had no use for it in Arizona when I moved in 2010, I wanted to bring it with me. Unfortunately, the loading ramp that came with the ABF trailer I hired to haul our belongings wasn’t wide enough to load the tractor, so it had to stay in Michigan (sigh)- set it in the front yard and sold it the same day for $600.

I had to weld the mower deck a couple times, because it had rusted through, and had to replace belts a few times. The vinyl on the seat was cracked and needed replacement, but the tractor was otherwise in excellent condition. It still had the original Kohler engine. I was happy to have owned it for 36 years.

I would bet that the owners would never turn loose of it for any reasonable amount of money.

I will wind up spending that much probably on that Willys jeep of mine. Most of it on various mechanical and the labor since I don’t have a lift, shop, and an extra pair of hands or two.

This weekend assuming I’m left alone for a while, I will try to end the Weber 2 barrel saga. I think I have all the spacers and adapters.

Willys made sure that nothing will bolt on their stuff except Willys. Those aftermarket one barrels fail too fast even running ethanol free.

Yeah, we got a Craftsman and a Murray, both with 42" decks. Two cylinder Briggs and Stratton engines, I believe. The Craftsman was almost two grand new, but got it for about $300 through our son-in-law. Inherited the other. This property is about an acre and a quarter, but it's got so many little land mines in it, it kills blades and belts. The previous owners ran a plant and tree nursery out of it, so we're constantly unearthing ornamental stone and whatnot with a blade or the edge of the deck. And we've got a dozen huge yellow pines and several stumps, so the roots are always popping up when you least expect it.

“you could be looking at thousands and thousands in back reg fees here in CA.”

Get someone to lien sale it fo storage, that eliminates back fees.

Sounds like a typical Deere owner.

I grew up on Massey Ferguson and will take one over a Deere any day.

My dad and uncle have quite a few of them.

Here are three from a while back.

I love the YouTube videos titled "First engine start in ___ years", or some variation on that theme. From lawnmowers to restored warbirds, the videos totally cover the internal combustion spectrum. There's a great one with a Porsche 917 being brought back to life. Even the UPS delivery guy stops by to watch the proceedings.
