Sexual harassment, it would be justified.

Where I live in E TN, in an exurban neighborhood with 1 to 3 acre partly wooded lots we have so many deer that they’re more common than rabbits. I see between one and six about three or four times a week as I drive the 3/4 of a mile from the top of the hill where I live to the bottom and back up. The deer really make out because there are yet to be any large predators and the human population is too dense for safe hunting, especially with firearms.

“Animals do not—can not—have rights.”

I was hoping someone would grab onto that. No one seemed to complain about my saying the deer carcass was his property, though.

But, semantics aside. Even people who think I shouldn’t kill a deer will agree that killing a deer is “an appropriate lifestyle choice” for this bear. And, even though he does not technically have rights personally, he is protected by law and you can only shoot him with an appropriate tag, if he’s attacking livestock, or in self defense.

Going by that pic, I’d dial 911 and report a “rape in progress”.

Just going by the picture I thought maybe they were having an interspecies affair.

But yeh, I’d don my Davy Crockett cap and fire away. Don’t need bears in my yard.

From the video, it looks like the beer followed the deer down from a wooded area. Since the bear caught the deer, it might indicate the deer was sickly, as a bear although fast, should not be as fast as a deer. Bears, being omnivores will eat anything, so a doe or young deer fits the bill.

Bear 1. Deer 0.

Now I don’t feel so bad about having the same thought. This could actually be a legal marriage in California...

From the background of the video, the backyard in question looks pretty suburban. For those of you outside Colorado, this has been a problem this year. The bears seem to be expecting a hard winter, they’re apparently global warming deniers, and have been coming into town wandering around suburban neighborhoods and eating peoples pets.

Going out and bothering him would involve finding rifle ammunition in my closet, dumping a magazine of 9mm hollow points in a bear certainly could work but it’s not something I would plan on working. Then there is the question of whether I was harassing him, yeas there is a law against that and why I thought it was appropriate to shoot an ‘06 in my backyard. A local guy is currently facing some charges over shooting a bear that was attacking his dog in town like this.

If the setting is a suburban as it looks, I would probably just call animal control and let them deal with him, that’s what I pay taxes for.

I am a man of courage. I would jump right into the fight and wrestle the bear down.

I’m not sure what I would do in that situation, I was just saying “good post” to DouglasKC.

Should have added: food for thought.

Nope. I would look into improving my fencing rather dramatically though.

Good idea!

Definately a two for one deal bere.
It would be the only logical solution.
Thr deer looks done anyway and I wouldn’t
want bears hunting on my property.
