I have the exact same gun. Perfect size for concealment and amazingly accurate for smaller gun. Complements my Beretta 92FS Compact perfectly.

I have a Series 70 Gold Cup, tricked out for competition...but, its NOT may carry weapon.

Sig P220 Carry, SAO is my carry weapon.

Reliability, ergonomics, ease of take down, slightly smaller.

I agree with your last point, a 1911 requires practice, but most people using a self defense weapon won’t practice, clean, and generally maintain it properly. Also it’s a little bulky for daily carry so I prefer a little LCR for light weight and concealment. The LCR isn’t accurate for squat but it’s for a foot or so away, so it doesn’t matter.

I had a Gold Cup and loved it, but gave it to my son. I’m a Glock 9mm guy now with a couple of models. Pull it out and pull the trigger, keep 10-11 rds in the mag and one in the pipe to save the springs.

Rule #1 It must be with you to help you.
Rule #2 Just pull the trigger.

Ditto on the accuracy—The gun practically aims itself.

1. Fits me like a glove.
2. Goes bang EVERY time.
3. Very accurate.
4. I know it forward and backward.
5. .45 ACP.

Looks like a Commander sized model. 4.25” barrel, full size frame.

Revelers (sic) don't.

I presume you meant 'revolvers'? Anyway, the do have a safety:

My experience with a 1911 is that is is jamming the next round feed. I plan to send it back to Colt as the local smith could not resolve the issue. Does not jam every shot, but maybe once per mag.

The round misses the barrel and stops the slide.

It was reliable for years and is an older model.

“Revelers don’t.”

The transfer bar could be considered a safety, in the sense that the trigger must be deliberately held back in order to fire. Very unlikely to suffer an accidental discharge.

I have a Star .45 that is my daily carry. It has an extended magazine/grip and carries seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. I have Federal Hydrashok hollow-points in it and if I ever need it I imagine one or two will do the job. Worst case I can always reload with my spare magazine.

LOL, revolvers, yes the spell checker got me. Six shots is a bit of a draw back but something is going to happen every time you squeeze the trigger. For someone like me that rarely uses the weapon a revolver is a good first choice for home defense. Finding my glasses and getting into the gun safe for the good stuff can take a minute or two that I might not have.

While I hate to openly disagree with a fellow Marine, he’s mistaken. I carried an ordinary issue 1911A1 for a year and a half in Vietnam - arguably one of the dirtiest and most corrosive environments on Earth - and it always worked, hit what it was aimed at, killed what it hit.

Pistol gunfights are short ranged, quick, and brutal. Generally you have to use a pistol at the same ranges you’d normally use a knife. Carrying a 1911A1 in Condition One (round in the chamber, hammer back, safety on) is easy, safe, fast into action.

The .45 is absolutely effective and you need fewer rounds to kill something.

As far as qualifying with one at the range, if you couldn’t qualify as at least Marksman with the .45, you probably also have trouble tying your shoes and should transfer to an MOS involving offices and typing.

Love the 27, but those Goncalo Alves grips were made for gorillas.

Do you trust your 1911 with your life?"

Every Day. I have had a retail jewelry store for over a quarter of a century and have open carried a nickel plated, pearl handled 1911 every day my door is open.

1. Goes BANG every time
2. Very few moving parts which could fail
3. Nickel plated/Pearl Handles very visible so a great deterrent
4. Heavy. I have never had to pull it, but if I did, I can pistol whip assailant if needed.

I’ve had Glocks, XDs, and various Rugers, but none compare to my 1911s for accuracy, comfortability of shooting, and peace of mind knowing that it will go bang when and only when I want them to.
