5 Luxury Deer Stands

Is this really Hunting?

Deer season is pretty much done for most of us across the country. We know the real struggle of it, too. Sitting out there through the wind, snow, ice, and all around terrible weather conditions hoping to fill our freezers can be rather daunting.

But isn't real hunting all about roughing it out in the wilderness cold? However, there are some that hunt out of luxury deer stands that don’t share this pain.

These hunters, the other half, sit on sofas and watch TV while hunting. If it starts to snow, they grab a blanket, turn the heater up, fix another cup of hot chocolate, and cross their legs - all the way - while watching soccer instead of football.

You don't believe me? Check out these five luxury deer stands and see what I mean.

1. Yep. That's the high life.

and the inside

If you have a heater, TV, card table, and slide window with comfy chairs, you ain't hunting like most.

2. Need a little nappy?

Sometimes you just get tired out there!

3. This Struggle is real

This deer stand might as well be a hotel. See the rest of the luxurious deer stand here.

I was on a call out to the farm, chatting with the husband.

The wife called out from the kitchen, " dear, you want pheasant for dinner?"

He said sure hon.

I heard a small caliber gunshot.

The wife simply shot through the kitchen window at the pheasants out in the yard eating with the chickens.

***What do you do when an illegal deer opens the window?***

I call the Game and Fish Commission and claim I was in fear of my life and shot it to protect myself and my family!

They always wonder why the blood always drains outside the window and not on the carpet.

Hunting deer off a feeder is illegal most places

You can plant greenways in the woods

No bagged food etc

It’s restrictive and game wardens are zealots particularly in this enviro weenie age

I hear ya

The Natchez Trace near where I live is very dangerous at night

Lots of fat federal grass and no hunting

The deer know this and congregate

It’s like deer Cochella on a big moon night

[Ticks and cold and rain are part of REAL hunting]

Make sure you’re covered up. I have friends who are in the last stages of Lyme Disease. One is severely arthritic, the other has brain damage.

I guess not in Texas as there are probably tens of thousands of the things all over the state. I think they use mostly corn feed but I am sure there are customized bag food for deer. Kinda takes the challenge out of what I grew up knowing as hunting.

Brother use to live near Pine Mountain Georgia.
Nearest neighbor was half a mile away,
He’d sit on his back porch eating his wheeties sipping his morning coffee and he’d shoot deer that would come drink out of his pool.

I have heard Lyme disease was in Texas too but I don’t know anyone who says they caught it here.

I grew up with a 12,000 acre deer lease near Burnet

We used feeders to attract deer to the land during off season

You could not bait or use feeders in hunting season

Though I see some exotic import hunting folks with fenced leases get exceptions I think

Squantos can clarify

Some states like my home state of Mississippi have so many deer they now hunt almost 5 months a year

Folks love to point fingers over hunting

I don’t much care

I know what I like

Try deer hunting with a bow in Nevada, where the deer can see you for dozens of miles. Where you have to wake up at 3 am and silently climb a mountainside in 15 degree weather in the dark. Then finally get close enough to a deer to nail him with an arrow.

I respect that mode of hunting greatly.

That’s how my mom did her goats and sheep. She trained them to trust a stick rubbing their heads. Then, when the time came to cull, they never had a moment of fear. Just *pop* and it was done.

There is not much difference between those plush deer stands and my home. I can shoot the deer at my leisure from my porch. I can cook, watch TV, and stay warm until they cross the pasture and then all I have to do is go out on the porch and set up and shoot. Don’t need an expensive deer stand. During turkey season the gobblers come right up in the yard and I can call them from the washroom window.

I’m not a hunter but I am so close to hills filled with deer, and you are not allowed to hunt. :(

Rack of venison.... Tastes better than how cute deer look. Sorry, deer.

Me too

I could shoot deer from rest out the window from my kids upstairs easy

Lady who owns acreage next to us has a feeder though and begged us not to

So we don’t

But gobblers get close its another story

Or coyotes but my Rott and the horses keep them away mostly now

We used to have tons
