Is There an Honorable Reason Trump is Trashing Cruz?

Might there be an honorable reason Trump is trashing Cruz? Yes. Is there an honorable reason? We shall see

In the past few weeks Donald Trump has initiated his anti-Cruz campaign, referring to Cruz as a nasty man, and prior as a maniac, usually referencing the time Cruz called Mitch McConnell a liar—on the Senate floor—even though McConnell had publicly demonstrated serial lying in every arena on the planet.

Trump, as is his signature wont, then doubled down on Cruz, indicting Cruz’ honesty in failing to report a Goldman Sachs loan on two forms instead of one form, Cruz’ alleged bias against the ethanol industry because of ‘big oil connections,’ and his potential disqualification for the Presidency in that he is allegedly not a “natural born citizen,” given Cruz was born in Canada.

Why is Trump doing this? Why is he so viciously attacking the heretofore darling of the Conservative faithful? Why is he risking alienating the millions of Cruz supporters who prior to now told numerous pollsters if Cruz did not win the nomination they would vote for Trump. Even were Trump to viscerally detest Cruz, why would Trump be willing to risk so much?

Good response, and I think you are half right.

What gains he makes by distancing himself from conservatives will be offset by those conservatives who will write him off. So I am thinking it will be a net zero, or small loss for Trump.

BTW.....looking forward to the Mulder - Scully reunion myself this Sunday.

Your going to have a chance to see that first hand, when he becomes the President of the United States.

I do not know the answer, I could speculate. My guess is he has internal polls showing his message is getting out. Why waste time and money if the people are paying attention... Some would accuse him of being vindictive if he were to sue Cruz now.. Seems more prudent to not totally turn off Cruz supporters.. He needs them to win the general.

Trump has not been who I was expecting. But that does not translate to, he is who I want.. I have no clue who will be on my state’s primary ballot..

I still have to stand by my original statement. The question does need put to rest one way or the other. We've got people tearing each other apart here over it. Trump is one of the few people who might have standing to bring suit and get the case heard. He knows this and apparently believes he'd be doing us a favor if he went ahead and did it, judged by his on words on the subject. So why, if he really is doing this for the benefit of all of us doesn't he go ahead and do what he professes to believe would be a great favor to us?

I really dislike Trump’s savage and personal attacks and I am Trump supporter. There are many ways he can consolidate his support based on policies and/or his speeches. How many people have complained about how his speeches have changed very little since he started.

I actually called Trump’s number on his website with a suggestion, which the person on the phone liked. He encouraged me to send my suggestions to an email he gave me. Here is what I suggested he add to his speeches.

Mr. Trump. “Actions,” not words are “bombastic.”

In campaign speeches you could use the following phrase over and over, each time inserting a different action or policy you consider bombastic....

Examples:
Do you know what I find bombastic....

*Obama lying about us keeping our doctors under ObamaCare
*Obama not doing anything to secure the Southern border
*Obama not calling the Steinle family on the death of Kate
*Hillary lying and blaming Benghazi on a video

As you can see, Trump could plug in 100s of things on a short notice. Could be used against the media, in debates where a whole nation would hear it and in his speeches.

It would hurt the individual he was calling out. It would remind people of the individuals and policies that have gotten us into the mess we are in.

So much better than trashing good people.

Cruz has an incredible audacity to run for President while fully aware that he does meet the very first prerequisite for the position.

No sympathy for him at all.

Biff. Such a cool name. Makes me want to check my email.

Sorry, I have no desire to start making things about about Cruz. So ....

I’m voting Trump.

Look at your Constitution. Has anyone changed the wording? It still says natural born.... There is no revision, or Amendment or court citation... If the requirement was changed the Constitution would reflect the change.

I was born in Germany, my dad was in the military. I am not a natural born citizen of any of the US, thus naturalized at birth. I am a citizen at birth but not natural born. I have known this since elementary school. It is settled. I grew up in Missouri but my birth certificate is a state department document. Not a Missouri birth certificate.

Consider, the left wanted Obama...nobody that had authority could bring themselves to say no he is not natural born... But through all the lies and deception a Hawaii birth certificate was produced... That birth certificate got cover as born in USA, but obama’s father was not a US citizen... Obama is owned. What he does is what he is told to do and say..

I call natural born a birthright..either you are born with it, parents US citizens and born in the USA, or not.

I am finding that even those who know, do not care...

I understand all that. Again, what I don't understand is why Trump knows he could put this all to rest, and by his own admission believes it would be in the best interest of all of us to do it, and won't.

You trying to convince me he's not eligible, or me trying to convince you the contrary does absolutely nothing to answer that question.

It started with the eligibility issue. Trump was not attacking Cruz on it, just recommending that he take actions to remove a possible cloud and lawsuit from the Dems.

Cruz then mentioned that bringing this up was because Trump was trailing him in the polls. Then the fireworks ensued. I think Trump was pissed when Cruz brought up the fact that his mother was born in Scotland.

Here is the transcript of the debate
