Is There an Honorable Reason Trump is Trashing Cruz?

Might there be an honorable reason Trump is trashing Cruz? Yes. Is there an honorable reason? We shall see

In the past few weeks Donald Trump has initiated his anti-Cruz campaign, referring to Cruz as a nasty man, and prior as a maniac, usually referencing the time Cruz called Mitch McConnell a liar—on the Senate floor—even though McConnell had publicly demonstrated serial lying in every arena on the planet.

Trump, as is his signature wont, then doubled down on Cruz, indicting Cruz’ honesty in failing to report a Goldman Sachs loan on two forms instead of one form, Cruz’ alleged bias against the ethanol industry because of ‘big oil connections,’ and his potential disqualification for the Presidency in that he is allegedly not a “natural born citizen,” given Cruz was born in Canada.

Why is Trump doing this? Why is he so viciously attacking the heretofore darling of the Conservative faithful? Why is he risking alienating the millions of Cruz supporters who prior to now told numerous pollsters if Cruz did not win the nomination they would vote for Trump. Even were Trump to viscerally detest Cruz, why would Trump be willing to risk so much?

Pointing out Ted’s Canadianess isn’t “baseless”. It’s an issue and will be until a court rules on it or (more likely) Ted drop out in a month or two. Neither is pointing out Mr. Tea Party’s Goldman-Sachs loan that for some reason Ted glossed over by claiming he “liquidated his family assets” instead of borrowing a million dollars against his brokerage account. That second (true) narrative wouldn’t have gone over so well in 2010.

I have no problem with a legitimate debate over the issues. However, Trump specializes in lies and smears which impute bad motives to good people. He also has no principles and seems to a thirst for power. The scary thing is that so many of his supporters seem determined to give him power without even giving his history or lack of moral values much thought. I really feel like I am living in Germany in the 1930’s and the scary thing is that it is my heretofore conservative friends that are flocking to his rallies and singing his praises.

Trump is a metrosexual wimp who talks and talks, but would cave the first time he was challenged by a real man. But he certainly won’t be sticking up for conservatism.

It’s curious to me that Trump says that he’d be doing the public a huge favor by suing Cruz over his eligibility, but then doesn’t do it.

“I really feel like I am living in Germany in the 1930’s “

I read a ton of German history pre and post WW2.

Believe me, this is more like 19th century American elections than Germany 1930s by a long shot. Maybe a bit like France in the same period with the divide being so great that society could fracture at the fault points with a national calamity, but even that is pretty remote.

Every one of Trump’s attacks are truth. You just refuse to accept Cruz doesn’t walk on water. Investigate instead of excusing Cruz.

If Canada born Cruz with a Cuban father wins Iowa, expect the suit. If Trump wins Iowa, there is hardly a need for a suit. Trump does not waste money, as opposed to every fricking career politicians in the pockets of their ultra-rich donor class.

"Like with the others, Cruz started it. When someone begins the battle, Trump finishes it, not holding back."

Exactly.

I think one of the first things a Trump administration would do would be to get this “natural born” issue settled once and for all. And, contrary to most opinion, I think Donald appreciates intelligence and talent, and will find a spot in his administration for Cruz...but probably not V.P., with his current citizenship issues. There is some unfounded talk so far on various blogs that Cruz’ mother may have taken Canadian citizenship, and if so, Cruz may be in more citizenship troubles than are presently fixable.

Man can not see the forest from the trees.

Had he remained an ally to Cruz, he would have lost Iowa, and then probably won 45-49 of the rest of the states, securing the nomination and establishing a conservative-poulist coalition.

Instead he goes full scorched earth, and in the process pisses off Cruz and 10,000,000 conservatives.

Trump must not be as smart politically as we thought,as this is will be a failed strategy.

Why does a scorpion sting or a snake bite??

Trump smears.

That’s a reason many like him.

He throws the most mud and usually first.

Can you please refresh my memory, what did Cruz do to get Trump fired up? I could have sworn that the first shot was from Trump about Cruz’s eligibility.

Trump does not waste money

Seems counter productive to talk about how he'd be doing the public a big favor then. He's campaigning on the idea that's he's doing this to help all of us, but when it gets down to brass tacks he's not going to do anything until it will help Trump.
