The Reason Why You Should Soak Your Feet In Listerine
Sun Gazing ^ | January 27, 2016

Day in and day out our hands and feet take a beating. Out of all our body parts they are perhaps the most used ones, making problems and issues that develop with them inevitable. Feet in particular are often overlooked and many of us will have to deal with calluses, cracked heels, toenail fungus, and dead skin at some point in our lives. These things can grow worse over time and it's best to treat them right away, before what was once a simple case turns into a nightmare of a problem.

There are all sorts of gels, creams, sprays, and soaks available at pharmacies and stores that promise to treat foot issues but they are often ineffective and extremely harsh. The chemicals and poisons they contain can have even worse effects on your body than the problem you're trying to treat, so it's best to avoid them at all costs. Instead, try this at home remedy that can clean your feet up and leave them smelling minty fresh.

All that you need is a shallow tub or container big enough to fit your feet, a bottle of Listerine, vinegar, and some warm water. In the tub combine a 1/2 cup of Listerine with 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. Stick your feet in the liquid and allow them to soak for at least 30-35 minutes, then after you remove them, rinse them off in the bath under warm running water. Make sure to completely dry in between your toes and smooth on some lotion because your skin will be thirsty for moisturizer.

This Listerine and vinegar foot soak will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and silky smooth. It gently dissolves away old, dead skin cells and helps to prevent both toenail fungus and calluses. The alcohol in the mouthwash effectively kills all of the bacteria and germs on feet and under toenails, which is the main cause of most people's foot odor. However, it only helps with minor problems and won't work so well with more serious or advanced foot issues that often require a doctor.

This treatment is incredibly simple, easy, and can be done in the comfort of your home anytime. Think about it like this; you have nothing to lose and potentially lots to gain by giving yourself a relaxing foot soak. At the very least you will feel more at ease and comfortable, plus your feet will smell great. Try it today and pass this along to others to help them find comfort and better health in their own lives!

I imagine a $1.00 bottle of rubbing alchohol would have the same effect.

Got rid of my Athletes foot in a week.

Using a hair blow dryer does the same thing, and it gets your feet nice and dry too.

I've used one for years, not for the athletes foot, but because, in spite of my screen name, I have lots of hair, just not on the top of my head.

Aspercreme is now available with 4% Lidocain.

Very powerful for sore muscles.

My Mom’s in her 80’s, suffers from burning feet, calluses...swears by Epsom Salt, but I still worry about the burning feet

Cetaphil will make feet softer. The PerfectPedi is for removal of calluses. I also have used a foot file ($2.00) for thick and larger areas. I no longer have to use that because after a month they are mostly gone. The "burning feet" is diabetic nerve pain. I have no experience treating that. I probably need to research it though.

Stinky feet indicates a bacterial infection and not a fungal (atheletes foot) infection. The quick cure is water-based hand sanitizer with benzalkonium chloride. Wipe it on your toes to kill germs and normal foot sweat will spread it into your shoes. In a week or two your shoes won’t stink either.

Fingernail fungus seems to be curable with shellac! I found this out by accident after accidentally dipping my thumb in a jar of it while finishing a cabinet. The shellac penetrates the soft fungus and suffocates it apparently.

Dandruff is often fungal rather than just dry skin, so an anti-fungal dandruff shampoo with selenium sulfide does the job. Dandruff shampoos without an anti-fungal can be worse than useless.

Works well..

Another good cure for chronic athletes foot is to ‘take a whizz’ on them.

Works very good.

However, if you have a ‘problem’ with smelling things does that mean you

Can’t smell?
Won’t smell?
or
Don’t smell?

In all regards???

My dog had a small fungal infection at the root of her tale underneath. Tried everything the vet sold us and couldn’t get rid of it. After years was still there. I quit using the vet meds and started washing it daily with original Selsun Blue and followed up with Prid drawing salve for the itch. It’s finally gone.
