In Iowa Cruz Fared Better Than Rubio Or Trump With Young And Blue Collar Voters
The Lonely Conservative ^ | February 4, 2016

Gee, I thought we shouldn't vote for Ted Cruz in the Republican primary because he's an icky conservative who can't appeal to young and blue collar voters. If that's the case, why did he do better than Donald Trump and Marco Rubio with both groups?

According to entrance polling, among the roughly half of all Republican voters without a college degree, Cruz won 30 percent of the vote, eclipsing Trump's 28 percent. Marco Rubio was a distant third, winning the support of just 17 percent of voters without college degrees. Cruz did 5 points better among voters without college degrees than among college grads (30 percent to 25 percent), while, among all candidates included in the entrance polling (Cruz, Trump, Rubio, Ben Carson, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders), Rubio was the candidate who had the lowest portion of his support come from those without college degrees--he did 10 points worse among voters without college degrees than among college grads (17 to 27 percent).

According to the entrance polling, Cruz also fared better than Trump or Rubio among younger voters. Among voters under the age of 30, Cruz won 26 percent of the vote to Rubio's 23 percent and Trump's 20 percent. Among voters in their 30s and early 40s, Cruz won 30 percent of the vote to Trump's 23 percent and Rubio's 21 percent. (Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton got clobbered among younger voters, winning less than 30 percent of the vote among those under the age of 45.)

Cruz's strong numbers among blue-collar voters lend credence to his expressed determination, emphasized in his victory speech, to win Reagan Democrats back into the Republican fold.(Read More)

Have any Carson supporters come forward yet to say they changed their vote because of what they were told by the Cruz folks at a caucus?

Has Carson conducted one campaign event since the Iowa caucuses? Is he in Florida because he's suspending his campaign to sell books....again?

Such BS you spew. IF you have followed the truth, you would know the truth. But, you haven’t, so live with your version of the lies. End of discussion!

So you can't identify one person who claims that what the Cruz folks said at the caucuses caused them to change their vote? Uh, huh. But Cruz is the king of the dirty trick and stole votes from Carson. Right. The stupid, it burns.

Let me know when Carson decides to get back in the race. Not one campaign event since the Iowa vote is all the truth we need to know.

Cruz, as much as he is the bees knees, is doing nothing to address his eligibility problem.

If he is eligible being born in Canada, then Obama is eligible being born in Kenya.

Or the next candidate would be eligible if he were born in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, China, Iran, Indonesia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Algeria, Senegal, North Korea, Palestine, or Tajikistan, and the list goes on.

America does not need the dangerous precedent set by Cruz for our future destruction. Cruz may seem innocuous to many now, but "fools rush in where angels fear to tread."

We revere our Founding Fathers because of their wisdom. They were especially wise to disallow candidates for the Presidency that were born with a possibly divided allegiance. That is not to say Cruz has a divided allegiance because that does not matter at all. It is the next election we must be mindful of and all those that may come later.

Not all of them were Fundamentalist!!! What is Trump going to do in the Bible Belt just about the whole South??? 65% or 70% Christian voters!!!

You're kidding right? The only Southern State Trump may not carry is Texas and some say Virginia.

The battle hasn’t begun. Expect a heavy bombardment of TV ads with Trump showing his ignorance of Protestant theological principles and facts about his less than stellar personal life. By the time it’s done every Christian voter in the South will know the sordid details of Trump.

Then your demographic is lower income voting, Evangelical is irrelevant. Now I can understand your point. Evangelicals don’t vote as a block.

Cruz is no Reagan - maybe in your fantasies, but, believe me - he isn’t. He thinks he is. Reagan didn’t lie and commit voter intimidation and fraud to others in the campaign. So, get off of Fantasy Island.

No I’m not kidding.. It’s the Bible belt!! The same applies here as Iowa.. Trump thinks he can just have Rallies which gives him votes but it takes a good ground game.. He never set that up so it will be ruff for him to win.. I heard on TV that 25% of his voters didn’t vote in Iowa.. That is why you need good Precinct Captains and lots of volunteers..

Hi there OKie. My Mother was born in Hartshorne.

I hate to have to point this out to you but religion is not a major issue of this election. Southerners want common sense solutions to the real issues before us right now.

Donald Trump provides solid solutions to the issues we currently face in 2016.

Donald Trump will stop illegal immigration and build the wall at our border. He will deport Illegal aliens, place ICE agents with local Police Gang Task Forces, end birthright citizenship, stop sanctuary cities, and stop the Islamist threat to our sovereignty and security.

Donald Trump will demand the end to Obamacare, replacing it with workable insurance coverage from the private sector. This will include the elimination of state boundaries that have allowed Big Insurers to keep rates artificially high, the removal of the current requirements to provide excessive and ludicrous coverage for all, such as forcing men or women past childbearing age to have maternity coverage. Donald Trump has said Health Savings Accounts, that allow banking funds for future needs, can also provide better coverage for many others. Additionally he has proposed insurance coverage to cover Indigent care or impoverished care to greatly reduce the transferred costs the rest of society now pays.

Donald Trump will straighten out our economy, bring jobs back from overseas, implement an intelligent Tax Plan, simplify the tax code, end waste and corruption in government, end welfare abuse, renegotiate unlevel foreign trade policies to correct our trade imbalance and bring businesses and jobs back to America, in order to bring us a better quality of life.

Donald Trump will uphold and defend our Second Amendment, strengthen our Military, reform the VA and take care of our Veterans and bring American hegemony back to the world.

Donald Trump has built his huge and successful business by a faithful commitment to and consistent follow through of his promises.

Trump is the only candidate that will win and "Make America Great Again. "

Been there many times. Played ball on the field Warren Spahn built.

I don’t trust Trump. He’s saying what people want to hear and if elected he’ll be another Nixon or Ford, if even that good.

I expect several of the other candidates to use Trump in his own voice to demonstrate how his positions on the issues constantly change. By the time the mass mailings and media are finished every Southern Baptist and Pentecostal will know about his adultery, profanity, divorces, bankruptcies and shady business dealings. Oh, and don’t forget he’s never asked God for forgiveness.

We shall see if his reputation survives sufficiently enough to carry the vote.

"...Trump is the only candidate that will win and "Make America Great Again..."

And you know that... how? It's certainly not due to his vague generalities like he told 60-Minutes just a few months ago when asked how he's going to pay for his universal health plan and he remarked, "The Government's Going To Pay For It!" Or that he's already reaching out to the GOPe and Demoncrats in congress to start trading (heaven only knows what he will put on the table) in exchange for "really great deals"?

Or perhaps you know he will make America great again because...

It's amazing to me that you have been there. My Great Grandpap had a ranch in Blanco along Brushy creek.

I do trust Trump because of his success up to now. I believe that only speaks for itself.

Above all else I don't trust any politician as far as I can spit.

As far as Trumps storied past, the first thing that comes to my mind is King David. God loved him in spite of his faults and he became like a brother with Jonathan, the son of King Saul who tried to kill him.
