Health Reform: It wasn’t that long ago when ObamaCare fans were wagging their fingers at critics, saying industry profits proved that the law was working. They’ve been noticeably silent as insurers report huge losses.

“I thought they carried medicaid in several states.”

Not sure if you meant Medicaid or Medicare. UnitedHealth is also a Medicare company in addition to regular health insurance. They said they couldn’t sustain losses after 2016.

Based on the horror stories of high premiums and deductibles, I can only deduce that this law prevents the medical facilities from eating huge costs when poor people have catastrophic illnesses or injuries without the means to pay for the care (the taxpayers foot the bill). As far as the individuals covered, they get screwed buying health insurance they can’t afford to use anyway.

The media is disingenuous of its choice of words; they rightfully say more people have “health insurance” while in actuality many less people have “health care”.

It isn’t just vultures running up bills because “it’s covered”; there are legal exposures where they fear malpractice lawsuits so they feel pressured to test for every conceivable malady. That is one of the biggest differences between a hospital visit today and 30 years ago: the battery of tests performed. To deal with costs, many of the X-rays and such are transmitted to India for analysis; it is a very “portable” part of the process.

I just got the bill for my recent office visit. I finally needed a z-pac. Visit cost $105, Zpack cost $5. Every office visit is over $100. $600/month for just me for insurance plus huge out of pockets.

Was that 105 the co-pay on top of the insurance?

The insurers did write the law. You're overlooking a few things:

1. What industry wouldn't support a law that requires every American (or their employers) to buy a product that is sold by that industry?

2. The financial problems these insurers are facing in these "high risk" pools don't go all the way back to the original Obamacare law. Do you wonder why the law was passed in 2009-10, but these insurers have only started complaining about it recently? It's because the U.S. government was originally going to come forward with an endless stream of cash to bail out the insurers for their high costs in these "high risk" pools. That all changed within the last year when Paul Ryan (for all his flaws he did this right) added a provision to a Federal budget bill that limited the Federal funding of this program to the premiums and fees they collected under it -- and prohibited the Federal government from using general tax revenues to cover any funding gaps.

So there you have it.

Not just Medicaid but Medicare and Military healthcare. From Champus for active duty to Tricare Prime and Tricare Life. For Retired Military. Services, test and drugs have been cut, and co-pays raised in 2015.

Are we going to replace it with Trumps National Healthcare? http://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2015/09/28/trump-60-minutes-interview-n2057986

How much more will that cost? Ask Europe where people die waiting for treatment of serious diseases.

Trump is a tricky question, and I have no idea what he would really do in office. I’m certain he wouldn’t be as bad as Jeb or Rubio, who are guaranteed to impose a massive Amnesty. However, I don’t know what connection, if any, there is between the campaign promises that I don’t expect Trump to keep and his actual planned policies.

Humana was a part of Aetna. It merged with Anthem Cigna last fall. It still operates under the name ‘Humana’.

The conglomerate has become the biggest US health insurer.

One of their main competitors is United Health (which, IIRC, is associated with the massive insurance group for older people disguised as AARP).

I love watching socialism fail.

Yeah, but in this case it is failing as designed. To be replaced with MORE SOCIALISM. Cause in the midst of Chicken Little panic no other solution will be politically saleable.

We already know Mexico said it won’t build the border fence.

So that means American Tax Serfs will have to cough up the funds. Cruz has already voted yes for the funding of the border fence. Trump has only shot off his mouth. He is also pro Touch Back amnesty. It’s all been posted for any one to read and decided based on fact not lies.

Rubio and Jeb are pro amnesty.

As it stands what I see is a 3 man race, Cruz, Rubio and Trump comes down to who do you believe given FACTS and is it feasible and can you ram it through congress. Will a GOP win sweep in Conservatives or RINOS which are dems in disguise. I know that all to well as both my US Sen and Governor are RINOS. The 2 conservatives running cancelled each other out, as the poll trailer would not drop out. Other wise the Conservative would have won instead of the RINOS.

I don't know about that. I very strongly prefer Cruz over Trump, but if you look at the cost of the fence and, for example, the amount of money sent by illegals to Mexico using Western Union, it might be pretty easy to tack a comparatively small surcharge onto those transfers and pay for the fence that way. Illegals would still rather pay a moderate extra fee in addition to the current Western Union charge than risk an unsecure transfer (such as mailing cash). I'm not convinced Trump would do it, but it's at least plausible.

With our patient population Anthem is actually Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Lots of smaller carriers started using the Cigna provider network last year. Wasn’t so bad when Great West combined with Cigna because Cigna processes their claims but Cigna just acts as a pass through of paperwork with the other companies. Cigna is also going to combining with Blue Cross later this year and it’s going to be a huge mess.

Our docs only deal with mental health and many companies just carve out the benefits to companies which only handle that portion of the coverage. In our patient population Humana mental health used to be through a company called Corp Health except for the military and that’s still through Tricare. Just really all a boondoggle.

It’s not just the welfare money they send back, but the drug trafficking. We also need seismic equipment to detect the tunnels. Then you add in sex trafficking of under age children. Restoring border guards with orders to stop and hold illegals needs to be done to, DUMBO stopped that.

That is part of the problem, he makes all these promises and we have not voting record to check.

All the rest have voting records. Project Vote Smart will have them listed.

Do we want a man who can’t control his temper and drops F bombs because it excites a crowd? As for Amnesty Trump proposes the old Dem Touch Back program. Deport them and let the ‘good’ one go to the head of the line, instead of the rear end and letting those who apply legally go first.

Trump: Deport illegals, but expedite the return of “the good ones” for legal status Touch Back a dem program.

No. There is Aetna-Humana.

Then there is Anthem-Cigna.
