VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the upcoming presidential election is now more important than ever when it comes to defending the Bill of Rights.
Cruz was in Virginia Beach, Va., at Regent University's Presidential Candidate Forum courting evangelicals ahead of Super Tuesday, March 1.
"Just a few days ago I attended Justice Scalia's funeral. And his passing underscores that the stakes of this presidential election are not just one, but two branches of government," Cruz noted.
"We are one liberal justice away from a five-justice left wing majority, the likes of which this country has never seen that will undermine our basic rights," Cruz told the audience.
"We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ordering veterans memorials torn down all over this country, and I tell you we're not far away from the court ordering the chisels to come out to remove the crosses and the stars of David from the tombstones of fallen soldiers. That's what the stakes are in this election," Cruz added.
Cruz, referencing a comment by GOP frontrunner Donald Trump from the most recent debate, said he has no intention of cutting a deal with Harry Reid and nominating a justice who isn't true to the constitution.

If it's that important to you that your candidate was a virgin on his wedding night, then stick with Ted.
Thank you for that, Ted Cruz is the only solid conservative in this campaign. But be very careful, not to offend Trump supporters or you may get the ZOT.
When it comes to character and integrity, I'm more bothered with such matters as "Trump University."

Good news because from what I have read here on FR, it is a bogus controversy and if it goes to court, Trump will be vindicated.
Seriously, perhaps a bigger worry is how are you, a Cruz supporter for whom character and integrity is very important, going to handle the dilemma of voting for Rubio—a boy who has demonstrated he probably has the least character and integrity (just ask Phyliss Schlafly)of any of the candidates, when Cruz formalizes his casual endorsement of Rubio?
A lot fewer than the GOP has, or than Hillary will if she gets the White House.

It is my understanding that Reid is not running again so if that if correct the issue is moot. However that will not stop Cruz.

Well, going by what his college mates said about Ted trolling the women’s end of the dorm in his bathrobe, there were no takers, and they found him creepy.
Nope. I don't like it. But when there is an important enough job to be done, competence goes WAY up on my list of criteria on who I want to do that job, and their morality is way down on the list.
Picking who I hang out with however, morality is a LOT higher on the list.
Answer me this. Do you ask the character of the soldier who goes to war for you? Do you ask the character of the policeman who comes when you call? Do you ask the character of the EMT who comes when you’re injured in an automobile accident? Do you ask the character of the doctor working to save you after a heart attack?
If not, you are a hypocrite.
Ted made his final remarks before getting massacred in the Super Tuesday election. LOL!
