The top feature at Friday's Drudge Report was a smear of Ted Cruz' Christian faith by a self-described "gay conservative libertarian" publisher in Florida.
The misleading and exaggerated Drudge feature - accompanied by a series of equally misleading and distorted video clips - was written by "political operative" Jacob Engels of the East Orlando Post, which he owns. His Twitter page shows Engels is actively promoting Donald Trump. It also reveals Engels' admiration for close Trump confidante Roger Stone, mastermind of Trump's presidential campaign and head of the pro-Trump super PAC, The Committee to Restore America's Greatness.
Engels appears to be an acolyte of Stone, a Nixon-era political trickster and long-time mentor of Trump and architect of Trump's political aspirations. He is famous for "Stone's Rules" of Alinsky-like dirty tricks. In one tweet, Engels calls Stone, who has been barred by CNN, a "legendary political operative." In another, he tweets that "'Stone's Rules' would not have allowed [Trump's] #IowaCaucus defeat," implying they were not sufficiently followed after Stone left the campaign to head up the super PAC.
For background on Roger Stone, who by ample indications at Engel's Twitter page appears to have inspired Engels' attack on Cruz, see: Roger Stone launches pro-Trump super PAC to 'bludgeon Trump's establishment rivals' (Breitbart)

He (Cruz) came immediately out in front of the media to remark about this rally and Trump. iIt was tacky and cheap shot. I’m glad Floridas primary is Tues because I was real close to voting for Cruz. Neil Bush his finance guy bad mouthed Trump too within minutes of the incident. Cruz done sold his soul I think.
Drudge payback probably for Cruz hack of his poll. This was right at that time.
That said, it isn’t a lie.
The left has all kinds of this stuff to hit Cruz with.
Since when is it a dirty trick to vet a candidate? Drudge linked to a video where we could see Cruz Senior’s behavior, talking about how an anointed king will redistribute the wealth of the wicked to the righteous. It’s just one little piece of the puzzle as voters try to determine if a candidate really is who he says he is.
The evidence is piling up that Cruz is a North American Union-favoring politician with very close ties to the Bush family who branded himself as a Constitution-defending conservative to get our votes. When Cruz went along with the establishment talking points that Trump was in part to blame for the violent Soros Commie rent-a-mob in Chicago, he confirmed in my view that he’s an establishment player playing us.
You are a liar or stupid.
Or both.
There are those who support Ted only because they HATE the Donald.
Envy and jealousy coupled with religious self righteousness all copulating produce the fire of HATRED that drives them.
It won’t matter who is running against Trump... The HATE Donald crowd will vote to thwart him at any cost.
Some might even vote for Hillary or the Bern.... Out of spite.
Religious bigot much?
Most I saw had no confusion. They know he doesn’t support BLM. They are pissed because instead of standing against this thuggery of the left, Cruz threw himself in with the GOPe to try and blame that thuggery on Trump and his supporters as being violent and inciting these people.
Those ex Cruz supporters weren’t buying into that BS.
It was really a low point for Ted.
Shows he will collude with anyone to win.
I’m sure nothing like this will happen in a general election against him. /s
Trump’s unfavorability numbers are equaling those of Bill the face of date rape Cosby (Cosby, July of last year, 62% unfavorability while Trumps rating is 62% now).
Hell be dramatically outspent in a general election and contrary to what hes promised, hes not going to finance his own campaign.
He will have to deal with a massive Trump University fraud case during the general election; hes the most gaffe-prone candidate in history and the mainstream media that has been carrying him on its shoulders will turn on him once hes the nominee.
Other than that, he’ll be a great nominee.
The Trump zombies descend.
How has this odd carnival huckster managed to hypnotize so many people?
Years of practice scamming people out of their money in various schemes, I guess.
It’s the weirdest phenomena ever. He’s not attractive. He’s not well-spoken. His platform consists of broad generalities with no substance.
When have we seen something like this? Barack Obama, one can understand. First Black president ... got ALL the black vote and most of the liberal vote.
A few years down the line, a lot of books will be written about this odd phase in the nation’s history.
I only hope that it will not end with Hillary are Bernie at the helm.
But there is every likelihood that will be the case unless there are enough sane people left in the country to Dump Trump.
Say what you want about Stone, but he is a brilliant oppo researcher and glad he’s on our side.
That being said, this isn’t going to be Ted’s undoing by a long-shot. Granted, he would have problems in the GE, but his issues are his siding with the leftist protesters.
Nope.
He even double-downed on it this morning on the Sunday shows.
Fiorina is trying to back-peddle naturally, because she is much smarter politically then Ted.
I didn’t see the videos, but there is nothing wrong with speaking in tongues by the Spirit of God. The Apostle Paul said he spoke in tongues, and in fact, it is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Also, laying on of hands and praying for people is also a common thing for Christians to do and is mentioned in the Bible.
Sometimes there can be misuse of the things of God if the carnal nature of the flesh tries to operate the gifts. But again, I haven’t seen the mentioned videos so cannot comment specifically on this incidence.
But what I can say is people need to be aware that speaking in tongues and laying on of hands are definitely of the Lord and part of real Christianity. Better not attack or make fun of the true things of God. These things were established by Him.
(I tend to lean Trump first, then Cruz. So my comments are only to inform people of what the Bible says, not promote Cruz.)
So, wait. Now Cruz is too ANTI-gay? For weeks now all I’ve heard from Trump followers is that Cruz was aligned with eeeeeeevil gay billionaires and that it was wrong.
Now Cruz is bad for aligning with some rabid antigay dude and Trump’s good for having some gay activist ally?. I love the consistency.
You can say 100 times that Ted Cruz sided with the leftist protesters.
You can say it a thousand times, a million times ... it is the constant meme here among the Trumpers.
He did not side with the protesters and no one on earth can prove that he did.
He simply decried the violence in Trump. In all Trumps’ rallies, he cries out for revenge and violence. Every time he makes an odd vow to hunt down and kill this or that group, to send a protester out in 20 degree weather without a coat; to pay the legal bills of a Trump thug who punched out a Trump protester ... he arouses the violence.
Ted Cruz has never sided with the protesters. He has pointed out a home truth about Trump and his thug-like rhetoric.
Consistency is not the middle-name of our beloved Trumpers.
Ditto. Breitbart too. Just go on and endorse trump you’re not fooling anyone that you’re impartial.
Yes. It has been done by both Trump and Cruz. Michelle Malkin posted a picture. If I could, I would post it here.
But that would be a lot of trouble and would convince no trumper even if they saw it with their own lying eyes.
Trumpers have now come out against everything. Even in the Episcopal Church, we lay hands.
The sad fact is that trumpers will denounce their own previously held beliefs and will denounce reality in order to praise their Lord and Master, Donald Trump.
I’m not impartial.
I support Ted Cruz.
I do not worship him.
I want to save this country for you even if you are determined to throw it away.
