Free speech make way; here comes Obama-style regionalism

We have written about how “regionalism” and its handmaiden “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” (AFFH) are, in effect, an attempt by the left to dictate the way Americans will live. Now, we see that they also entail an attempt to tell elected officials what they must say. This has become apparent from efforts to muzzle Westchester Country Executive Rob Astorino.

Westchester County, New York is ground zero in the left’s push for its vision of regionalism. Under Democratic leadership, the County entered into a settlement with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The County agreed to build 750 “affordable housing units,” 650 of which would be in municipalities with less than 3 percent American-American population and less than 7 percent Hispanic population.

It also agreed to advertise its affordable housing units to people living outside the County. The non-residents were to be lured into the County to try to ensure that the new housing units would be filled by the desired number of members of the HUD-preferred racial and ethic groups.

Under Astorino, a Republican, the County is working to build the 750 units. However, Astorino has also been a strong critic of regionalism/AFFH. In fact, after viewing a 12 minute video of Astorino describing Westchester’s battles with HUD, Goffstown, New Hampshire decided to stop applying for HUD money, which is the hook the Obama administration uses to bend local governments to its will on housing matters.

In addition, as we noted here, Astorino seeks to bring Hillary Clinton, one of his constituents, into the discussion. He has asked the Democratic frontrunner whether she thinks her hometown, Chappaqua, is discriminatory and whether she agrees with the Obama administration’s efforts to force it to build a low-income housing development it doesn’t want....

Means and ends. Exclusionary zoning by suburban jurisdictions is a problem. The Obama regionalism approach isn’t a good way to solve it.

This is another sign that the Republic, along with the American Dream, is dead. The Federal Government is ruling using contract law and legal intimidation. This is why we need someone who knows contract law to fix this.

Absolutely! We need someone who has promised to roll back twenty years of Federal Regulations, do away with Federal Mandates such as Common Core.

Yes, that is how it starts. The problem, now, is that if you say you don’t want it, they will sue you or investigate you until you do want it.

I’ve used the example of the Quartering Act (that required American colonists to house British troops) as a predecessor to this; American taxpayers will have the appropriate allotment of unassimilated minorities assigned to them in their municipalities, and will be providing free/reduced rent, “free” public schooling, etc.

The model for funding our Welfarian reservations isn’t working, and having blocks of taxpayers vote for a Republican House is a temporary impediment to the destruction of our country and way of life. These Welfarians will be funded by the very taxpayers they vote against, like a foreign army foraging in enemy lands they occupy.

Does anyone have additional info. handy on this AFFH? I’ll be taking the time to look myself, just wondering if anyone has been on top of this already? Tx.

There is an even more dastardly plan and effect of this b.s

They are importing/transplanting hundreds/thousands rat voters into Republican voting districts. They will continue until the districts are democrat controlled.

It’s forced Democrat gerrymandering.

I was wondering when he would get around to wrecking the 3rd Amendment.

Yep, they already control the urban areas, so now they want to control the suburban and rural areas that traditionally vote repub or against the dimrats.

He didn’t even start the trend (it began with affordable housing law long before), but he and his commissars are working overtime to implement this because taxpayer flight has left our permanent welfare underclass without funding. Federal dollars can replace rent checks and groceries, but school costs and infrastructure repairs have no more sugar daddies (the taxpayers and companies have fled).

They aren’t soldiers, more like communist guerillas - but it is the same concept. Pay your fair share; you have been allotted a family of unassimilated minorities for which you must provide everything...

BLUF

If you afford it there are many things that go into selecting where you live.

The quality of the local schools is one. The quality of the neighborhood. And the list goes on.

What the dimocrat/liberal/progressive/socialist cabal are demanding is that everyone, but them, live IAW their standards for a neighborhood. If it were otherwise, Hillary would have been part of the presser outside her home.

BTW - how many of our democrat/liberal/progressive/socialist leaders already live a balanced neighborhood as defined by this legislation. How many will live a balanced neighborhood after the legislation has been fully implemented?

The districts of the best-ranked public schools are where the expensive houses are in my area. Very hard to find anything reasonably priced in the “right” school districts.
