New York City’s cops say the town is in trouble – big trouble.

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association of the City of New York commissioned a survey of 6000 of its members and their opinions are sharply at odds with the rosy picture being projected by Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio.

In part its findings were, “The overall survey results show that members believe the relationship with the public and elected officials has worsened in the past few years, with a lack of support and respect for police officers the top reason cited. Members also expressed they personally feel 'less safe' while on duty and most agree that they are often reluctant to take police action for fear of lawsuits or complaints from the public.”

The survey found:

95% of members said New York City is on the wrong track. 92% of PBA members say support for the police has decreased during the de Blasio administration compared to past administrations. 96% of responses were unfavorable towards Mayor de Blasio, with 88% very unfavorable. Additionally, 96% disapprove of de Blasio's policing and public safety policies.

Police Commissioner [Bill] Bratton receives relatively high ratings. 64% of the respondents are favorable towards Commissioner Bratton and he also receives a 66% overall job approval rating.

However:

95% of NYC PBA members say they personally feel "less safe"...

New York voters, especially in the city, are terminally stupid. It takes a really, really awful mayor like John Lindsey or David Dinkins or the current jerk incumbent to introduce them to reality.

A merely bad mayor like Bloomberg isn't enough. Question now is where will they find the next Ed Koch or Rudi Giuliani to clean things up?

Central New York, Rome to be exact hasn't done well for years. It's on the low end of the economic totem pole. No major industry. The biggest employer is probably New York State, as there are three medium-security prisons within a 10-12 mile radius. There used to be four prisons, but Cuomo shut one down when he first took office. It was an old State School for the Retarded, and renovated to house inmates. Besides a Walmart Super Store, the next biggest employer is Turning Stone Casino run by the Oneida Indians. That's about 10 miles down the road from me.

There's construction going on at one of the buildings on the grounds of the old Griffiss Air Base. Don't know what's going in there. There's a business park there as well, plus NORAD. The old air base runway is run by the county, and is now known as Oneida International Airport. Air Force planes still land for refueling, and maintenance.

The only other construction taking place is at the Rome campus of MVCC (Mohawk Valley Community College). It's just down the street from me. They're expanding existing buildings. Construction is expected to be finished in fall 2017.

As a NYC resident, I can attest that duh Blasio sucks. The fact that he is despised by the cops is the first good thing I’ve heard about him.

Granted, the cops aren’t quite as bad as some other city employees who routinely claim false disabilities, but when cops get caught, the rest of the them see nothing wrong with the practice.

It’s getting to the point where America looks like a train wreck and I really don’t want to rubberneck. With the uniparty, there is really no chance to stop it. It’s a one way road - down hill at brake neck speed.

Substantially different. Our local police know that we, the average citizens, have their backs in my town.
