Rush Limbaugh Has Completely Lost His Way
http://www.redstate.com/ ^ | April 16th, 2016 | leon_h_wolf

Probably no one has earned more leeway from conservative voters and pundits than Rush Limbaugh. Rush has been a tireless force for the conservative movement for decades, and he probably is responsible for a whole lot of conservative Republicans who are currently in office. But thankfulness for past service only goes so far, and Rush’s program yesterday officially crossed the line.

When I think about Rush’s last year or so on air, I’m reminded of Marshall Phillipe Petain, one of the most intriguing figures of the twentieth century. Without Petain, the French might not have prevailed over the Germans at Verdun, and thus might have lost World War I. But for as much thanks as France owed Petain for his service in World War I, the full historical reckoning for Petain must acknowledge that Petain was a Nazi collaborator, the leader of Vichy France, and a totalitarian dictator. Petain’s history is complicated, and to tell the whole tale honestly requires acknowledging both the good and the bad.

So it is with Rush. For all he has done, and for all we should be thankful for, it is hard to deny that Donald Trump has brought conservatism to a critical moment. From this moment forward, it will either resemble the vision Rush has preached for thirty years, or it will not. It will either move forward as a recognizable force, or it will be destroyed with Trump in a historic landslide election.

The problem this time is that it is clear that the Republican Establishment is not Conservative, and doesn’t intend to be Conservative. So the choice was between establishment and non-establishment. Despite the liberal things he said in the past, Donald Trumps positions and policies are to return the country to its Conservative roots.

Ted Cruz started out with and is still talking Conservative positions and policies, but he is beginning to demonstrate that he is really a Bushie at heart. Now that is it looking as if his dad was involved with the CIA and Lee Harvey Oswald in New Orleans, and left for Canada when Jim Garrison began investigating that aspect of the Kennedy assassination, it raises even more questions about whether Ted Cruz is just a Bush version of Obama.

But Rush is not highlighting anything about how bad the GOPee has gotten, or how bad things really are in the country. He actually seems to be defending the GOPee and its tactics. At least that is what I hear every time I try to listen to him, but then I have to turn him off because I can’t stand the stupidity of what he is saying.

I think you are equating conservatism with just social issues. It’s much more than that - Trump is conservative on immigration, the military, wanting to pay off our debt, the vets, doing away with Obamacare and common Core - trade deals that benefit America, big 2nd Amendment guy, as well as 1st Amendment. What isn’t conservative about that? Cruzbots look through such a narrow tunnel - you could call it tunnel vision.

We coming to a time of disillusionment with our country and many conservative leaders. I have listened to Rush since he first went on the air and I was a great fan of his but on occasion it occurred to me that he did not mention free trade and illegal immigration for many years. I don’t recall him talking about NAFTA. Since Rush was on the national media I believed he was controlled by THEM. One time a caller mentioned the CFR and Rush dismissed him. There were certain things that he talked about and other things he did not talk about. Now I believe that Rush was part of the conservative controlled opposition. He was allowed to talk about a number of things but he was not allowed to talk about others. The controlled opposition is something that the Soviet Union used for instance the Russian Orthodox clergy was controlled by the Soviets. This is how controlled societies operate. We are living in a controlled society but because we started out as a free society the controllers had to be very subtle in the way that they controlled our media. All controlled society use censorship and ours is not any different. We live in an oligarchy which has to control our information.

It’s funny trumpsters think Rush is in the tank for Cruz and Cruzers think Rush is in the tank for Trump.

I’ve listened and he’s not in the tank for either one of them. He knows he has to support the eventual nominee so he’s trying to just do straight analysis and not really blow up either side. He has his target on Hillary like we should as well.

I prefer Cruz but will vote Trump if it’s him or Hillary.

Oh, please.

Rush did not spin Trump’s “winning-by-losing” strategy as a positive. He said it was brilliant strategy to turn a loss into a win by damning the process and that Trump knew he was going to lose and chose to attack after the loss knowing that he’d get lots of attention.

I don’t know about it being brilliant strategy but it worked for Trump. He got the attention and riled up his supporters.

Trump confirmed Rush’s analysis today by saying he never intended to play in Colorado because he knew he couldn’t win.

>Many Trump supporters here claim that Rush supports Trump.

Not I. Rush supports whoever will make this most money. He’s an entertainer. Besides, what’s the point of attacking our own right wing media based on canidate preference? We’re going to need them all in November. Well maybe besides Glenn Beck. He’s gone a bit cooco for cooco puffs. He may need some time off.

Cruzers actually think Rush is in the tank for Trump.

ONE article from ONE redstate.com guy does not equal "Cruzers". Look, support your guy. I'll support my guy. If this is mainly about who supports whom, nothing will get done.

I agree. But the only good thing about Trump is that he’s not Hillary and it would be fun watching the GOPe implode and everyone lose their cushy jobs. He’d suck as a President if he acts anything like he has the past year, but it’s still better than Hillary.

Cruzers actually think Rush is in the tank for Trump.

That's because his bias against Trump is subtle. Unlike Levin and Beck who are frothing at the mouth. Rush is establishment and wants Cruz. Red State is a joke.

Come on. You can admit it. You quit some time ago.

I admit I’ve never been a trump fan. If he wins I will reluctantly vote for the him because Hillary is worse than him. Trump is not a flaming liberal...he’s Peter King or Arnold schwatzenegger........ Granted he’s throwing you people a conservative bone here and there but he is not a conservative at his core

Trumpy....

Immigration... send them home, then let them come back

Military... Not sure what the nuclear triad is but he likes it.

Obamacare... we're going to insure people. We have to. Something bigger and better than Obammycare.

Trade deals.... we'll raise taxes on people (that consumers ultimately pay)

2nd Ammendment ... I agree, he says he carries, but then so do half the gang members in Detroit.

1st amendment... he wants to make it easier to sue the press.

Yeah... Trumpy is a conservative allright.... lol

<<<. Donald Trump has brought conservatism to a critical moment. >>>

Sorry, I just don’t see Mr. Trump as a ‘conservative’. He’s interesting. He’s bombastic. He has the media by the short hairs. His border talk is great. His recent support for partial-birth abortion is horrible. He’s an enigma.

Trump is not a conservative.

Over the weekend, someone did a lot of work and carefully documented that Trump's embrace of conservatism goes back many decades.

You can flippantly deny that all you want, in your trollish tradition, but facts are stubborn things.

I wish I had link. I'm confident someone will post it, and I encourage you to review the information and try to draw an objective conclusion.

Or, alternately, you could stick with the knee-jerk troll routine.

Ted Cruz has lost. He will have been mathematically eliminated after the next Tuesday or two. His only hope was to get the nomination at a contested GOP convention, which would irreparably splinter the party, and guarantee a GOP defeat in November.

Simply put, that's not going to happen. Not even the crooked GOPe is that stupid.

Vote Trump
