India is in the grips of a monstrous pre-monsoon heat wave that has killed more than 160 people in recent weeks. The majority of the deaths have been in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but soaring temperatures have compounded ongoing drought and water shortages across the country and threaten to affect as many as 330 million people, according to figures the Indian government reported to the Supreme Court.

If all 330 million died, India would only have 800 million people left. How can I expect to get proper tech support?...

160 have died, but they love the doom of 330,000,000 in the headline. In the same time frame, how many Indians have died of unclean water?

When I lived in Texas I routinely worked outside delivering 800 to 1200 cases of soft drinks in temps similar to what the article reports...

Our troops routinely faced such temps in their deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan...

I feel sorry that people died, but it's called weather...

Apples and oranges...

White and brown people living in temps above 100' in America SW doesn't get the same international outrage generated as poor destitute, environmentally ravaged brown people in living in India...by climate change

Besides, we have white privilege...

:0)

(we must check our privilege along with suspending our disbelief when it pertains to races not as privileged as we.)

“330 million people at risk”

“killed more than 160 people in recent weeks”

Boy, if this lasts very much longer, say 100 million years,
it could be disastrous.

I'm with you on that.

The “brutal heat wave” involves high temperatures in the 101-103 neighborhood. That’s an ordinary summer day in Kansas, and a cold snap in Saudi Arabia.

I bet those shivering in most of Europe would welcome a heat wave about now.

If you were on fire and jumped in that it would probably explode.
