Proof that felons are democrats

Terry McAuliffe is the Governor of Virginia when he's not doing favors for Hillary Clinton. He is described as having bought the Clinton's some time ago. It is speculated that McAuliffe is vying for the vice presidential nomination.

McAuliffe has an unsavory history of falling into big money at the expense of others.

Gary Winnick: Winnick was the founder of Global Crossing, a fiber optic company that earned McAuliffe $8 million on an initial investment of $100,000—a deal he accessed because he was working as a consultant to Winnick before the company went public. Winnick had been an acolyte of junk bond king Michael Milken before starting Global Crossing. His management of Global Crossing has been compared with Ken Lay's leadership of Enron. He and other top executives hid the company's losses and cashed out more than a billion in stock before the company collapsed in 2002 and caused $54 billion in shareholder losses. Lots of people thought Winnick should have gone to jail, but he avoided any serious federal action. McAuliffe cashed out his shares in Global Crossing before it crashed and was not accused of any wrongdoing, but his profiteering in this case has been a political liability for him.
Now McAuliffe has decided to boost the rolls of the democrat party and Hillary Clinton voters:
Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed an executive order Friday restoring the voting rights of 206,000 ex-felons, a sweeping action the governor said was aimed largely at rectifying Virginia’s “long and sad history” of suppressing African-American voting power.

The move, coming in a presidential election year, outraged Republicans who accused McAuliffe of abusing his power to help longtime ally Hillary Clinton win a battleground state by putting more likely Democratic voters on the books.

The governor’s order applies to all violent and nonviolent felons who had finished their sentence and supervised release as of Friday, even those who have not applied for a restoration of rights. Previous Virginia governors have restored rights on an individual basis, but none has done it for an entire category of offenders with one pen stroke.

The order stops short of creating automatic restoration of rights for all ex-offenders, because McAuliffe will have to sign similar orders on a monthly basis moving forward. Still, the order is a historic shift away from Virginia’s policy of lifetime disenfranchisement for those convicted of serious crimes.

“We benefit from a more just and accountable government when we put trust in all of our citizens to choose their leaders,” McAuliffe said Friday from the steps of the state Capitol, where a gospel choir warmed up a jubilant crowd. “It has taken Virginia many centuries, unfortunately, to learn this lesson. But today, we celebrate its truth.”

The action, which comes just days after the General Assembly wrapped up the 2016 legislative session, has the potential to expand the state’s voter rolls, currently estimated at about 5.4 million, by as much as 3.8 percent.

Virginia is one of 10 states that do not automatically restore rights upon completion of a felony sentence and one of only four states that require an application by the felon and action by the governor, according to the McAuliffe administration, which cited research showing one of every five African-Americans of voting age in Virginia has lost the right to vote.

Supporters praised McAuliffe for what they characterized as a bold step that will give ex-offenders a chance to fully participate in civic life. Opponents called it a potentially unconstitutional overreach that will further strain the relationship between the governor and the Republican-controlled legislature.

Most recognize this for the blatant political ploy it is:

I read an article years ago about a University that studied this issue. They found 85% of felons voted Democrat, if they voted.

A large proportion, perhaps the majority, of these felons are black. They are being used, as usual, by the dems. They are freeing them of civil disabilities only so they can vote for HRC. Perfect example of the cynical use of minorities by the dems.

So best him at his own game and shame him in the process. Introduce legislation that does automatically restore voting rights and point out that this is a republic we're living in - not a dictatorship.

I agree that a lot of felons are Democrats but you’d be surprised sometimes. I have run across ex cons in the charity work that I do who are fairly conservative and some have a surprisingly good grasp of how Dem worker regulations destroy the job market. One guy told me that he was adamantly against a hike in the minimum wage because all it would mean is that he wouldn’t be able to find a job. Another ex con I know is a diehard Trump supporter — he knows that the flood of illegals is making it hard to find good work.
