I'm all for taking voter anger out on elected officials, and certainly for electing a town council which won't hand out the public’s money for this, but - come on, effectively making voter generated banishment?
Sometimes you just have to live with the results of poor decisions by elected leaders.
The mayor on his own made an agreement with U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants to accept “refugees”. Later the town council accepted the “refugees”. The public was not told until after the deal was done.
The federal government pays the cost of public housing and EBT cards for six months, afterwards local/state government must foot the bill. Where is the money going to come from? Where are these people going to work?
At some point you have to start deciding that the elected leaders don't get to live with them.
They are not “joining the community”. The town council has decided to become landlords using tax dollars. I think the citizens have a right to stop it.

Uh, you can live with unvetted refugees if you want. I know my family wouldn't be "living" with it..
No you don't.
That's why God invented Second Amendments...
...or haul the elected leaders out by their short hairs and deal with them.
Well, no.
You don't.
When your "elected leader" decides to import a bunch of voters that you must support then no, you don't have to live with it.
