Natasha Marin is a Seattle artist who noticed a divide on her Facebook feed: her black friends were angry and frustrated about police shootings of black men, and her white friends were saying they wanted to help, but didn’t know what to do.
“There is a discrepancy in the lives of people of color and white-identified people in the United States,” Marin said.
Marin put together the Reparations site and accompanying Facebook event. It was a place where people of color could post needs and white people could help meet those needs.

“I feel like a lot of my white-identified friends and allies would like something specific to do so that they can feel less mired in guilt and stagnation, watching videos of brutality against people of color, angry articles, posts,” she said.
Almost immediately, offers and requests started pouring in. Many of the requests are serious, tangible needs: money for groceries, a place to live, tuition assistance, car repairs. People responded with donations or posted something else they could provide: resume editing, dogsitting, rides around town.
“Leveraging your privilege doesn't necessarily have to cost you financially,” Marin said. “Will you listen to me yell and scream for an hour and just vent my anger in a way that’s safe? Can you teach me how to sculpt or bead? Can you mentor me? If you're an executive at a company and somebody’s looking for a job, you’re a referral – your name drop could make a difference in that person's life.”
Of course, like many online activities, particularly concerning race, trolls emerged. Marin and her network created a way to deal with them: the Troll Slaying Brigade. The Brigade donates a dollar to someone who has made a request on the site for every negative comment received.
“So now the trolls are on our side and the trolls have actually raised more money than had been raised prior,” Marin said.
The project name, Reparations, may evoke some divisive reactions, but Marin said the word does not have to be about a specific historical event.
“It's really about making something that's broken, fixed. And being generous is a great way to fix that feeling in your spirit.
“For the most part I think that we all want the same things: We want to be seen, we want to be remembered well and we want to add value to humanity. We want to make an impact in some positive way, and this is a really doable way to do that.
“Just sit and think right now to yourself, ‘What is it that I could offer a stranger? How could I add value to somebody’s life?’”

Give a leech a handout, expect them to beg from you for the rest of your life. And if you ever get to the point where you believe you’ve given enough, expect to be hated and vilified by those you tried to help.
The best way to help in the long term is to encourage them to become educated and self-reliant and to shun those who would seek to perpetuate the grievances of the past.
I highly recommend that these race zealots read their world history books and the Bible and see that many races and religions were enslaved for centuries, e.g., Jews, Christians, Chinese, etc. Hitler slaughtered six million Jews so I guess every Jew in the world should be marching and asking for reparations. Throughout history every time a group conquered another group, they enslaved people.

Our church just assembled back packs and school supplies for the “poor and needy” children in our area and handed them out this last Saturday. Without exception every mother who came in was Black, had several children, was texting or talking on an iPhone or similar device, drove a car several years newer than mine and none appeared to be dressed in anything resembling shabby. Several of the kids complained because the back packs weren’t a certain type and one of the mothers was overheard to tell her child to hush - they would get her the one she wanted later.
Our family has decided to help just our neighbors in the future as a couple of the husbands/fathers have recently lost their jobs.
I’m old enough to remember when Patty Hearst’s dad decided to make ‘reparations’ in order to get his beloved daughter back from the charming urban guerilla Donald Defreeze. What occurred was one of the first of many incidents of inner city blacks embarrassing themselves in grabbing cash and food out of the poor man’s hand as - if I remember correctly - he stood on the back of a flatbed truck.
I know a few ‘white’ people that are desperately out of work and facing the prospect of living on the streets or in shelters. They could also use funds for car repairs, bus fare, etc.
I also know quite a few black people who are doing really well in their jobs, completing their education or remodeling their homes.
Why is this a black v. white thing?

And once you pay the guilt tax, they’ll always play upon the guilt to make you give more. Liberals condemn religion for doing it, and then repeat the pattern themselves.
This is great, democraps and liberals are the reason black people are still mired in poverty, and who is likely to give money to such a scheme... well Democraps and liberals, so in a sense the people who actually DO owe reparations are paying them ;)
