A New Mexico restaurant generated controversy -- and profits -- this summer with a play on "Black Lives Matter."
Now it's coasting on the uproar that began with its sign and has printed hats and T-shirts with the phrase, jumping straight into the seemingly never-ending national conversation on race.
Rick Camuglia, owner of Paisano's, an Italian restaurant in Albuquerque, put the phrase "black olives matter" on his sign last month to help sell a new tuna dish with black olive tapenade. It worked like a charm, bringing in more business, with some people adding black olives to every dish they ordered.
Of course it upset some people too, who said that Paisano's was trivializing the Black Lives Matter movement, which has protested the police killings of black men in the past couple of years.
Others who have been accused of this -- like the people who have said "All Lives Matter" in response -- have apologized for their words. But not Paisano's. Camuglia refuses to apologize and says he won't stop selling hats and T-shirts with the "black olives matter" phrase on them.
"People have filled the restaurant and told us to leave up the sign," Camuglia told CNN affiliate KOAT. He said he made the T-shirts and other items after getting messages of support from people around the world who wanted to buy some sort of souvenir with the phrase on it.
The view from the other side
That doesn't sit well with others, said Dr. Finnie Coleman, an English professor at the University of New Mexico who's teaching a course on the historical events that led up to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Those effing terrorists don’t deserve any respect. Nothing but mockery for them.
Those who are perpetually offended need to lighten up a bit.
Black Lives Matter is disrespect to everyone not black. IT intends to claim ONLY black lives matter.
Rick’s a great guy, one of the only national class Sporting Clays shooters NM has produced, although he’s switched to long distance rifle.

We should keep this up.mock them with their own alinsky tactics.
I was stationed in Rota, Spain from 79 to 82. What was your Father doing to be stationed in Sevilla, if I may ask? Also, the family and I visited Sevilla and did a tour of the cathedral where Columbus is supposedly entombed. Great day.
“Camuglia”
Sounds like an Italian. The hypocritical outrage will begin soon.
I bought a “build a wall” shirt from Breitbart last month and it took 3 weeks to get here.
Before anyone says I don't have a right to talk about slavery, my ancestors were mostly Scottish and Irish, both who were enslaved by English crown. I should write a letter to the Queen asking for reparations.

BTW.. i still laugh at this skit even in light of BLM and our “black” prezident who is fomenting race wars in the US.
Don’t know how I missed that. Thanks!
Of corse it’s a joke. People are way too serious and uptight now days.
Yeah. That!
It should be real disrespect, but it’s probably just a joke.
Doctor, check out a wine list.

Good luck with that. The "perpetually offended" use their victim status to build self-esteem. Without that, they have nothing. Such people are lazy and rather not do the hard work to build self-worth.
I know because of my own history on the streets in my youth. I grew up and stopped blaming my parents and society. Even while living in cars and garages I worked at widget factories/car washes/dish washing/ and moved forward and up.
My dad was in the Air Force and stationed at Morón AFB, between 1957 and 1960. He was the hospital administrator at the base hospital. Morón Air Base is located in southern Spain approximately 35 miles southeast of the city of Sevilla and 75 miles northeast of the Rota Naval Station.
I attended Boy Scout summer camp at Rota twice when I lived in Spain. Took home a chameleon that inhabited my tent and he lived for about two more years in our living room, occasionally scary the daylights out of family guests sitting on the couch with this odd-looking reptile creeping along the upholstery.
We traveled throughout Europe, Britain and north Africa while we lived there, car/tent camping all the way. Best experiences of my young life and memories I have never forgotten.
A man with self-confidence in himself enough to not apologize for something he didn't do. Buckling under to this PC crap is crippling our society and edging us closer to a Marxist state one offended liberal at a time.
