Colin Kaepernick, the National Anthem and what this is all leading to -VANITY

Posted on 09/09/2016 7:03:39 AM PDT by Ge0ffrey

In my humble opinion, what this Colin Kaepernick shtick is leading to is the eventual outright ban of the national anthem at sporting events. That's where the left-wing ESPN and NFL are taking this. Too political, they'll say. One of the few places where people bond together patriotically outside of the military, and the left is going to try to kill it. They may be successful.

However, that may not work in soccer, since there is a HUGE amount of national pride tied into soccer. You'd have a full-scale riot in many parts of the world if you can't sing the national anthem during international competitions....

It leads to what it is already leading to. Politicizing sports leads to people tuning them out.

< They should just play our National Anthem while the players are in the locker room. Don’t let them out until the Anthem is comlete. Just like they did at a soccer match in Seattle. These players are free to protest but not on my dime. That would settle that.>

But then all de widdle NFL chilluns would get dere feelers hurt because you're not paying them any attention. That's what this all about.

In our bizzaro world these days, we have now completely reverted to the 60’s. Flag burning was common, disrespecting the national anthem was OK. Standing with an enemy on anti aircraft batteries was in vogue. The more things change the more they stay the same. Why we even had a draft dodging backwoods POS win the presidency over two WWII combat veterans.

I hope this does not repeat with an unindicted felon winning the presidency this year, that would be a complete disaster but people seem to have zero regard for the nation these days. I saw today even the Dallas Morning News for the first time since 1940 supported a dem for president. The world is really Fuped.

Go back to the Depression. The National Anthem was imposed to take the publics mind off what was going on. Distract them. We’re better than that. Last bastion of the scoundrel stuff. Gotta hand it to the blacks. They push the envelope where whites won’t go.

It’s all about ratings. The NFL is so popular because it has a huge number of casual fans. I doubt these casual fans really care about this garbage, at least enough to stop watching. If they do, then the NFL will do something. But I bet they also think the controversy is giving them a lot of extra free media exposure that they wouldn’t have had otherwise, so we will see what the ratings do.

Maybe that’s the left’s ultimate goal. IMHO the proper response to the NFL and any other multibillion dollar sports syndicate that tolerates this stuff is to stop watching them. And stop visiting their advertisers. Let’s face it, as a business it’s not about the games, it’s about the money. Like many here on FR say, correctly, follow the money.

To be honest I haven’t watched a football game since my kids quit playing PeeWee 30-35 years ago, so this is not a problem for me.

good Thing - playing The national Athem at Sports Events Is bizarre

I've never quite understood why they do it, either. I do not see a connection between the national anthem and a sporting event. That said, I do know that when they play it, the announcer says something like "to honor America, we ask that you rise..."

If the NFL drops it, they will be showing that they no longer wish to honor America. Most leftists don't.

“One of the few places where people bond together patriotically outside of the military, and the left is going to try to kill it.”

That is the key... The Left (and the RINOs) are all about Globalism and against Nationalism/American Exceptionlism.

It has been shown that Multiculturalism erodes trust in communities, even between members of the SAME culture, let alone different cultures existing side by side in the same community.

The Left through feminism and no-fault divorce has eroded the family, substituting Welfare and BigGovernment for Fathers. You can see how well this has worked for the black community in the U.S.

The goal of the Left is to disintegrate anything that bonds communities and people together (nuclear families, communities, sporting events, whatever...)... anything that would interfere with the power of the State.

My question is why are we still having posts about him. I dont even like mentioning his name. Just ignore him and dont give him anymore ink. He did it to save his career. I bet the whole 49er locker room wishes he would be paid off to get him outta there

The NFL doesn’t need more publicity because it’s so ridiculously far of everyone else in popularity—especially now with fantasy football so hugely popular.

This is what I did: I contacted the NFL players association at https://www.nflpa.com/contact-us and told them that because of the disrespect shown to the flag and anthem, which in my opinion is also ‘dissing’ the fans—I no longer watch ‘thugball’ formerly known as football.

If the media & other busybodies would just ignore Kaepernick & the rest of them this would all quickly fade away.

Those who do not ignore are playing right into their hands.

interestingly, during the game last night for the first time ever I thought about how I really wasn’t enjoying the game as much as I used to and could live without it.

I am a huge football fan, but my interest in the NFL has been declining while my interest in college football has increased.

***BOTTOM LINE I AM BOYCOTTING WATCHING NFL***

Let them all get real jobs and paid accordingly, nothing but a bunch of spoiled brats that have had there a**es kissed all their lives.

I have had enough of this minutia!

I found this report from an unnamed source interesting:

As the French wisely say, Cherchez la femme, look for the woman.

In this case, the woman is hip-hop radio personality DJ Nessa Diab. She's a Berkeley grad, a very dogmatic outspoken Black Lives Matter advocate and a Muslim. She and Colin Kaepernick are engaged, and Kaepernick converted to Islam during the off season.

The two are reportedly planning what Kaepernick calls 'a traditional Muslim wedding.'

Pretty simple...boy meets radical girl, they find they have interests and ideology in common...except,it's haram, forbidden for a Muslima (a Muslim girl) to marry a non-believer. This is not to say that Kaepernick wasn't pretty far along the radical path anyway.

It's a real love story...not only do they love the same things, but they can hate the same people too. There are certainly a fair amount of patriotic American Muslims, but many Muslims here follow the Qu'ran which says their first loyalty aside from Allah is to the umma, the worldwide Muslim polity. And no one with much common sense would call the folks at Black Lives Matter remotely patriotic. So it all fits together pretty well.

Another part of the back story is that both Kaepernick and Nessa Diab have been agitating the 49er's to trade Kaepernick to New York, where Diab is based. Ideology aside, this might be Kaepernick's way of adding some fuel to the fire.
