For Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), the decision to endorse Republican nominee Donald Trump wasnt an easy one.
Although for the former Republican presidential nominees supporters the decision seemed to be sudden and rash, Cruz told KTRK-TV Friday that the decision to support Trump didnt come as a result of a political deal, but rather it came after several months of thought and prayer.
There were no deals, Cruz told the news station. We had been engaged in conversations. You know its been a decision as I said Ive been thinking about and praying about for weeks and months, discussing it with my family, and I made the decision today and announced it Friday.
Following his non-endorsement of Trump during the Republican national convention in July, Cruz took a lot of heat from Republicans and supporters alike. At the time, Cruz instructed Republicans to vote their conscience, a phrase that drew a large number of boos during his speech.
During an interview with the Texas Tribune Friday, Cruz invoked the phrase again, this time in-favor of Trump.

Sit down Ted. Your 15 minutes was up and overdrawn long ago.
This Texas family will never forgive Luzer so don’t expect any future votes to come his way.
Isn’t that precious. All the men whom he bested came around quickly to support him — Christie, Carson, Rand Paul, Rick Perry, Santorum, Huckabee, Gilmore, even Rubio and lately, even Carly. It was the girlymen who resisted — Kasich, ¡Jeb!, Grahamnesty, and, of course, Archbishop Cruz.
Wow, I wasn’t aware. That’s pretty scary.
This is good news. I seriously doubt Trump will turn up his nose at the support and votes that Cruz and his die-hards will bring, the way some FReepers are doing. Every bit helps. Cruz lost, he knows it, he’s finally done the right thing, whatever his motivation. Let’s move on together.
