Was Trump the only Republican who could have won this year?
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/15/2016 | W. JAMES ANTLE III

The conventional wisdom was that almost any of the other 16 Republican presidential candidates could have run better than Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton's team certainly believed it.

Now that Trump is president-elect, not only was his weakness clearly exaggerated. With the benefit of hindsight, Trump may have been the only Republican contender who could have broken Clinton's blue wall and pulled off the upset.

"I wouldn't have believed it," said a D.C. anti-Trump conservative. "Now it sure seems like it."

The Gentleman’s Republican party or it’s pretense has ended, forever. Trump has reset the tone on what it takes to beat them and be a winner.

If Pres.-E-Trump does not clean up the illegitimate vote, he and no other pub will ever win again. Seriously!

DJT demonstrated to all that may follow that if you do not fight to win, you are guaranteed to lose.

It is the most amazing win of all times in so many ways.

Early on Axelrod was telling the Clinton camp that they really didn’t want Trump as her opponent. The Reps piled on after that. I despise Axelrod but he has very good political senses.

No, none of the other republicans would have won, this would have been another McCain/Romney defeat

The other Republican candidates would have been walking on glass trying not to offend anyone, pleasing the media that hates them and proposing policies that are no different then Hillary’s.

Trump won because he went after the democrats, did not care who he offended and proposed policies and changes that are nothing like Hillary’s. He won people who haven’t voted in years, or only voted democrat. He destroyed the establishment and took out big money in his campaign. He did very well, and only Donald Trump was the person who could have pulled this off.

He relied on rallies instead of press interviews, he drew huge crowds consistently, you had to wait in line 6 hours to get into a Trump rally. He was spreading his message around the MSMs, he made them essentially, obsolete.

Would have JEB, Cruz, Christie, Carson, Walker, Perry, Fiorina have done that? I doubt it. He did everything that we would dream that a Republican candidate would have done. I don’t see JEB drawing 10-15 thousand people per rally, 4-5 times a day, I don’t see Cruz or Christie doing that either.

Trump had a winning message, willing to fight for it and won.

Cruz wouldn’t have focused on the rust belt hence he would have lost

How would Cruz would have won Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio with his lousy message of gays, abortions, and the constitution (that he seems to only care about on the campaign trail anyways)? Those issues would not have gotten the blue collar working man to vote for him, because when you lost your good job and working 3 sucky ones with Obamacare as your insurance, the last thing you care about is gay marriage or abortion.

Trump won because of his winning message resonated with this group. He did exact opposite of what traditional establishment republicans have been doing and losing the past 8 years.

Trump was winning this thing early on, why do you think the media was doing everything possible to stop him? They wanted Cruz to win or Kasich or JEB or any of the others but even they couldn’t prop those losers up during the primary.

Clinton and Trump's GOP opponents were all counting on evangelicals having a violent negative reaction to Trump's personal history. That didn't happen, and Trump was the only Republican capable of convincingly delivering the populist message that peeled away a huge piece of the Democrats' white working class base - perhaps permanently. Trump's outsider status made him credible to these voters, in a way none of the others could come close to matching.

Ronald Reagan is the only GOP figure in the last 70 years who could have done the same thing.

I believe only Trump would have won. I compare:

While Cruz tried to position himself as the cerebral candidate, and Trump as the junk yard bully, Trump's words were red meat for the bulk of the electorate. And the more people looked at Trump, the more they saw less of a bully, but someone standing on principle (rule of law applies equally to all), with some really excellent ideas. Cruz looked more wishy-washy (blaming Trump supporters for the violence of the Chicago rally, rather than to fall on the side of free speech.)

But who can win next time? Pence! Pence did a great job campaigning. He was a great debater! His twitter is fabulous! And he was a governor and congressman. He knows his stuff. And he is a real conservative who stuck with Trump.

‘You’d be in JAIL,” was the best debate point ever delivered in any presidential debate.

100% TRUE and foreshadowing of events to occur a few weeks later when Comey announced the FBI was investigating her emails, again.

The look of adamance or assurance on Trump’s face and his turn away with a demeanor of absoluteness was a spectacle seared to everyone’s memory.

Hillary is GUILTY as charged and that’s just for the stuff we have been able to decipher. Certainly, there is so much more to be known about the criminality of the Clintons.

You are so correct.

This is it, our final chance to clean up the vote and ‘stop the steal.’

It is a miracle that he won.

Realize that they almost stole Florida’s 29 EV.

And that’s a lot.

Threats of lawsuits, a whistle blower in the SOE and vigilant poll watchers made the difference.

Was Trump the only Republican who could have won this year?

Last year I thought either Trump or Cruz could win, and I recognized Trump (if nominated) would have won by a larger margin. Given the way the vote came in, I am now of the opinion that Cruz would have likely lost, and Trump is perhaps the only candidate that could have possibly won.

I underestimated the media going full tilt propaganda corps for the Democrats. They went beyond what I expected them to do.

Now we need to work at destroying the propaganda arm of the Democrat party known as the "Media."

Only in your unConstitutional dreams. He will NEVER be eligible for president.

A correct understanding of eligibility no longer has anything to do with it. After Obama, pretty much anyone is de facto eligible.

Cruz had zero chance of winning in the upper midwest in a general election.

Probably true.

I never considered that angle, well done.

It was a huge surprise to the usual ballot stuffers.

In the SOE office of Detroit, Phili, Cleveland, Madison, Miami, St. Louis, and Broward this is the Rat conversation:

“We’s already got dis one in da bag. Enuff votes comin’ in, she gonna win, BIG! and “I ain’t fillin’ in no mor ballots and risk a notha felony, we gots enuff. She don’t need it.”

“We’s don’t need no mo votes, she winnin.”

Then it all exploded way too late. That’s why they are so angry.

They could have stole it, just didn’t think they were needed.
