Do Republicans really want to let go of ObamaCare?
Canada Free Press ^ | 11/15/16 | Dan Calabrese

It's killing the country, but it's been the best political friend the GOP has ever had

It’s a funny thing about solving problems, especially in politics. You want to solve problems, of course. You campaign on your ability to do so, and on the culpability of the other side in having created the problem in the first place.

In that respect, rarely has a problem set itself up more advantageously for the Republican Party than ObamaCare. Not a single Republican voted for it. And just about every Republican warned it would be a disaster. The public agreed, opposing the idea by large majorities before Democrats went ahead and passed it anyway in 2010.

No, not really.

Not even Trump.

It will be repealed and reformed, but a system that pays for poor people will be put in place.

So it won’t be Obamacare anymore. Maybe call it Trumpcare. I figure no matter what it will be better.

Seems like that to me.

I do believe this sort of thinking dominates Washington. Better to maintain a mess if it means you have a better chance to remain in power. This is why term limits are needed.

As long as the solution is a good one, they’ll cruise to reelection when costs go down and choice increases.

What do they care? They and their staffs are exempt from it.

Hmmm. Let me think abou...HELL YES! It was THE most important issue that caused me to vote for trump. No repeal and replace. Just effin repeal that monstrosity. We can deal with “replace” as a separate subject.

Yes, Republicans want to get rid of Obamacare and replace it with something that

Guarantees coverage if you need it but does not require you to purchase it if you don’t feel like it.

Provides infinite coverage to one’s self and one’s family, but be bare bones for everyone else’s, as that might make it expensive.

Is affordable!... because insurance provides almost no fun when you buy it. Much rather spend money on toys. But then when you get sick it should literally cover everything. Deductibles are a bummer.

Noting that I gladly voted for Trump and do not regret doing so, please consider the following.

Patriots need to encourage Trump to propose a Trumpcare amendment to the Constitution so that the feds will actually have the constitutional authority to regulate, tax and spend for INTRAstate healthcare purposes.

But also note that there is nothing stopping the states from ignoring a proposed Trumpcare amendment if the states decide that they want to experiment with their own healthcare programs.

In fact, lawless Obama should have have first experimented with state Obamacare when he was an Illinois state senator.

I do want Obamacare repealed. My premiums went up $200/month when obamacare went into effect (plus higher deductibles, higher copays). But I have little faith that the insurance companies will roll back prices until there’s some more competition.

Until Congressman are subject to the same rules and regulations as their constituents, IMO nothing substantial will change.

Noticed that just today a Congressman from Texas is one of three sponsors of a bill to revive earmarks. Back to the trough feeding time for all the piggies in DC!

We all know what will happen if the Republicans just blanket repeal this thing.

The next day some 26 year old kid will be diagnosed with kidney failure, having just lost his coverage. Or someone with cancer will lose their job and become a “pre-existing condition”. Or some low-income fellow with a chronic health problem will be tossed from Medicaid rolls.

All will become the new Suckers from South Succotash wailing for pity on the evening news. The media will have a field day thrashing Trump & Co about the neck and head.

It does not get us anywhere to continually play the role of a political Wile E. Coyote.

Obamacare is a great campaign boogeyman to trot out every election cycle, like abortion has been for years. They didn’t think they would win and it would remain rhetoric for cover, but now Trump went and ran and pulled a lot over the finish line. some were probably wishing that didn’t happen because now the rubber has to hit the road and repeal it.

You aren’t the capital R republicans to which the author refers. Those are the same people that funded obamacare and opposed Trump!
