Jeb Bush asks new Republican administration to flex its muscles with a constitutional convention

In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush makes the case that the incoming Republican administration should set the agenda by calling for a constitutional convention to establish term limits, a balanced budget amendment and restrictions on the Commerce Clause.

Bush asserts that the 2016 election was largely a protest vote over the growth and power of the central government and that Republicans have a rare chance to shift some of that power back to the states.

Bush wrote:

But here’s something we shouldn’t forget: This election was more about voting against something than voting for something. Americans voted against the “establishment,” against the country’s changing culture, against a dysfunctional Washington, against the privileged,

Go to Hell and Burn.

You are the biggest, most pathetic, pedantic, Jackass...Evuh!!!

You wanted to win the primary without conservatives and had your pudgy ass handed to you.

There is nothing in you that comports with why we voted the way we did.

Voted against the establishment? Well, fkr, we have had enough of you punks not voting for us so, why do we need you?

We put plenty of TEA Party conservatives and then your various Golums turned them to your side. They betrayed us and diminished themselves in the process.

That you would write an Op-ed regarding anything Republican is ass-tonishing, considering you have been outed as an anathema to the rest of us.

We never want to hear from you or your family again.

>>No need for a Con Con. Just go through the amendment process. Anything else is just somebody else’s agenda.

Exactly! NO need to open Pandora’s Box!

The mere fact that a Global WANTS a new Constitutional Convention is a neon flashing sign revealing they feel confident of success in limiting constitutional liberties, through their global moles embedded in the patriot camp, ready for mischief.

The Founding Fathers brilliantly provided remedies within the Constitution itself.

What’s wrong with his call for conservative initiatives is he was completely against them and now, seeking relevancy, wants to co-opt some part of the agenda and take credit as “An Important Voice” in the debate.

He should have skulked away and crawled back into whatever hole he slithered out of...

Shut up, Yeb!

This was a vote against your family’s open borders and amnesty agenda.

Piss off.

Idiot Bush. CConvention to,

o Abolish IRS, phase out over 20 year.

o Abolish Fed Bank.

o Fed Spending limit to 10% of GNP.

All else is trivial when spending is limited.
Balanced Budget & Term Limits are irrelevant.

I suppose everyone deserves a listen. But I have no desire to listen to Jeb anytime soon.

Maybe he hopes to become relevant once again. Please let me know if he has a good conservative idea.

"In all, the Schiavo case involved 14 appeals and numerous motions, petitions, and hearings in the Florida courts; five suits in federal district court; extensive political intervention at the levels of the Florida state legislature, then-governor Jeb Bush, the U.S. Congress, and President George W. Bush; and four denials of certiorari from the Supreme Court of the United States."

Actually, judge Greer is your culprit, not Jeb.

Well, I've long been a knee-jerk anti-Bush adherent, so I'm thinking he knows that there are a bunch of us out here, and he's trying to use our Bush detestation against us.

That is, with so many state legislatures "Republican", there's really no need to have a Constitutional Convention for common sense stuff, unless Yeb! wants to give more power to the Dems to disrupt things like the First and Second amendments electoral college, etc.

So, the drunken, pot-smoking, drug-addled Phillips Academy student, who was almost expelled, has an article written by someone else published in his name by the WSJ. I doubt that Jeb has even read the article.

Even though I love me some Donald,

I don't think the Republicans have the wisdom of our founding fathers.

Plus a constitional convention might open up a can of worms. You know, unintended consequences.

Once there is a “convention” the door is potentially thrown open.

Or do you imagine that progressives, who haven’t cared one jot about lawlessness they trade in, will suddenly grow consciences and restrain themselves to the agenda the States approved of?

Don’t criticize my “ignorance” while expressing blind trust in fools and knaves.

Everyone should get Mark levin’s book liberty amendments. It’s already underway and next year would be a great opportunity for Trump to promote it.

A runaway Convention is certainly possible, but what’s not reasonably possible is “runaway ratifications”.

Republicans hold 34-35 legislatures...both houses.

The Progressive agenda holds no chance that 13 of them would not oppose anything they come up with.

Any fear that Progressives would have a nit of influence over what is proposed (2/3 of states) or what is ratified is simple ignorance.

Q: And the way to prevent them from amending the present Constitution away to be something else entirely is?

A: Nothing but unwarranted confidence that they won’t.

We already have the Law we need. We only need to have the federal obey it for a change.
