A senior employee at computer giant IBM has quit her job and publicly condemned her former boss, in one example of what can happen when the leaders of a business choose to get involved in politics.
The employee decided to resign from her position at IBM after the companys chief executive Ginni Rometty published an open letter to US President-elect Donald Trump following his election win.
In her own open letter published on NewCo, senior content strategist in IBMs corporate marketing department Elizabeth Wood said she could no longer work for a company that would ignore the real needs of its workforce.
Romettys letter congratulated Trump and outlined ideas that I believe will help achieve the aspiration you articulated and that can advance a national agenda in a time of profound change.
I know that you are committed to help Americas economy grow in ways that are good for all its people, Rometty said in her letter.
In her response, Wood slammed Romettys letter, claiming it showed a willingness to legitimise threats to our country for financial gain.
Your letter offered the backing of IBMs global workforce in support of his agenda that preys on marginalised people and threatens my wellbeing as a woman, a Latina and a concerned citizen, Wood said.
The President-elect has demonstrated contempt for immigrants, veterans, people with disabilities, Black, Latinx, Jewish, Muslim and LGBTQ communities. These groups comprise a growing portion of the company you lead, Ms. Rometty. They work every day for IBMs success and have been silenced by your words.
Romettys letter offered a number of suggestions to President-elect Trump, including a focus on vocational education and new collar jobs, taking care of veterans, and building better infrastructure to support Internet of Things integration.
Rometty signs off by saying she hopes the ideas offered represent ways that we can work together to achieve prosperity that is broadly shared in our society.
Wood argued the future of IBM hinges on an inclusive and welcoming culture, and criticised Rometty after she did not mention the companys diverse culture in the open letter to Trump. Wood said her decision to leave IBM did not come lightly and that she is leaving without a backup offer or safety net.
What I do have is the knowledge that my own lifeand those of the several hundred thousand who serve your company worldwideare too valuable to waste at an organisation where we are not respected, she says.
It is my belief that you owe your staff and the President-elect a public clarification on IBMs commitment to the protection and representation of all of its employees.
Since when is someone “dumped” when they voluntarily quit their job? Maybe whoever wrote this needs to attend ESL class.
So one person “claims” they are quitting over this.
If 1000 Republicans had quit, they wouldn’t even talk about it.
LOL, the good old media double standards have become such a farce that nobody believes any of this stupid crap anymore.
Good grief, can’t they just kill themselves already?
good-bye snowflake! I bet the real IBM employees are not sorry to see it go.
Very misleading headline. She dumped IBM. She wasn’t dumped by IBM. Someone just set off one of her preciously fragile trigger switches.
If that ain’t a typo, yeah that would look like a clue.
But it reflects the sad way that our modern lefties have played the pied piper, offering an illusory gain when it actually helps nobody. However the illusory gain will be hotly defended by many.
Donald isn’t even a real rightist. He’s a centrist. But that’s still enough to spoil it for our modern hard lefties.
I am so sorry but she appears to be stuck on stupid. Bless her heart.
Awful title to the article there two dee.
Right on!, 2ndDivisioVet.
That’s Commie Speak.
in one example of what can happen when the leaders of a business choose to get involved in politics...
Ya mean like GOOGLE or APPLE or AMAZON or NETFLIX or (put one here)?
Read what she says. Left wing ultra feminist b.tch.
Poor snowflake; the wall grew too warm for her to stick.
Unless I’m having problems with reading comprehension, that headline is not consistent with the story.
The resignation of that leftist crap probably made her former co-workers happy, and may even increase IBM stock prices, especially if other leftist employees take the hint.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that HR is not the least bit sorry to see her hit the pavement.
“senior content strategist in IBMs corporate marketing department”
There’s headcount bloat, and then, there’s headcount bloat. LMAO.
Oh, I love this kind of corporate quarrel, after having gotten the shaft from these lefties.
I’m not meaning to be mean, but I also will never excuse mean behavior.
I finally gave in and searched out the definition for this slang term “snowflake”.
Well, I got a few laughs out of it. Here is one site with several good definitions (just scroll down to see them all):

Yepper!
Maybe they rolled out a red carpet for her exit, even.
